I'll give him a chance as the starting PG this year, but he should be on an incredibly short leash. If his increasingly bad habits continue to get worse he should be pulled.

The greatest beef I have with Marcus is that the entire front office has empowered him. I’m hopeful that Ime can come in and we have a changing of the guard mentality which keeps him on a very tight leash.

Unfortunately it sounds like Ime is already pumping him with praise too.

Praise isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Praise the hustle, the defense, and the play-making.  Criticize the shot selection and the occasional attempt to get too fancy with the passes.

His 5.7 assists per game were the same as Lonzo Ball, and in the same range as Brogdon, Conley, Curry, Kyrie, etc.

I’ll always appreciate his hustle and grit, but the fact that people think this guy can be our starting point guard going forward is nothing but laughable.

I’ll continue to beat the dead horse and say that Marcus’ best suited position is at the PG spot. He is at his best on offense when he gets in the paint, allows the defense to collapse. That’s where he shines the most with nifty passes and tough finishes. A decent amount of and ones and he’s good at finding the open man in that setting.

Shooting Guard doesn’t suit him as that should be a scoring position and, of course, a shooting position. If (and a big if for me) we are keeping Smart, his best, most bearable position for us is and has always been at the PG slot.

I'm not locked into him being a PG or SG as long as his primary functions are defense and ball distribution.  if he's on the floor with another guard that's a good shooter who is also good at ball distribution, that's when he really shines.
