  • STAND FIRM, SAY NO TO VIBE MEN
The Celtics could have won the title and Danny would have stepped down regardless. He's a tired man, I wouldn't read anything else into it.

As for Brad, this feels an awful lot like it was more about Wyc being cheap than anything. Brad was already owed a lot of money. What better way to save money than hire a guy you are already paying regardless. He'll get his shot, though, so I hope he comes through.
The team averaging $90 million in revenue profit and who's franchise value increases at well over $100 million a year on average wants to save $4-5 million a year for a few years and make the guy who, in your opinion, they should be firing the guy running the entire show?

There isn't a large corporation in the world that would do something so dumb. Basically Wyc would be saying something like this as a comparison:

"Hey, you're a high level accountant in my firm and I don't think you are doing a good job and need to be replaced, but by firing you I might be sacrificing a 1-2% increase in my bottom line, so instead of firing you, I am going to promote you several rungs up the corporate ladder and make you the Chief Financial Officer of the firm and let you run the company."

That makes no sense in any business world. Wyc and his partners aren't idiots. This simply is not what is happening here.
Well now that you put it that way...
It's like a big club in a closed sports league is a completely different thing from an accounting firm ::)

I'm gonna take these guys at their word...let's give it chance.

Hiring the right coach is essential, if it's Larranaga, I'll puke a little or a lot.

I just don’t want to half @s$ it. New GM. New coach. Now new players. I want to see drastic changes. Try to move Kemba. Dangle Smart in packages. See what teams will have free for Brown. S&T Fournier.

Tatum is the only guy I believe needs to be on the roster next season. Not that I don’t think Brown isn’t a fantastic player. He is. He’s just not complimentary to Tatum and Tatum is already better with a higher ceiling.

If they are shaking things up, I hope Brad has the heart to make the changes necessary. We know he has the brain. But the guys to move players he loves may be a tall task for him. I prefer he coach and let a (new) GM give him a new roster. But for whatever reason he is no longer the coach. I can’t believe what happened to the franchise in 4 short years. Summer of 2017 to summer of 2021 is nothing short of flabbergasting.

Earlier this season when the Celts were struggling.... Ainge and Wyc came went on 98.5 to try to put out the flame

but instead they ended up protecting Brad and making statements like....that the team were not contenders,  the players don't take lesser opponents seriously/preparation is lacking.... don't blame Brad

I wonder if the players resent Brad like how a sibling that gets blame vs  brother/sister that get all the praise

and now Brad is the president

If the team are not the biggest fans of Ainge (gone), Wyc and now Brad.  Isn't that a weird dynamic?

They don't have to be best friends. But lack of respect would be a bad thing

Is the only solution at this point, to hire a coach to the "core" liking??   However that coach will be in the middle of things, since they have to work with/respect Brad, Wyc etc.

I personally think, some of the players shouldn't be so sensitive to this.  Brad has been here a while and been successful most of the time.  And the truth is, that the team was not a contender/at that level.   In a way should lit a fire under their azz

On the flipside, Wyc and Ainge should have never came on radio and said those things. Just kept it in house/private

Ainge especially.  He came on the radio show, got grilled.... blamed himself, but also some of it on the roster/team .... never on Brad

the players don’t need to like or respect brad in his new role. the bulls won six championships with jerry krause, a guy they not only didn’t respect but publicly ridiculed. in fact, a little professional distance would be better for brad and will make tough decisions a bit easier.

the new HC is a different story and will need to be someone the players respect.

agreed. probably brad’s biggest decision as prez. he’ll also need to resist the urge to salvage some of his coaching staff, and allow the new HC the complete freedom to select his/her own staff.
