Can we talk about how the framing of this implies that a woman or a person of color who is hired to be head coach was hired first and foremost for one of those criteria rather than standing out by way of the other listed traits?

You can think that it would be a good thing for the league and the franchise to elevate a woman or a person of color to a leadership position and also assume that whichever person is hired to be head coach will be the best person for the job.  Not mutually exclusive.

Disgusting that race or gender could be (are?) genuine criteria for getting a job.

I think reality is that there are factors that supersede race, but if those baseline criteria are met, race can be a factor in a close decision.  I don’t think it’s disgusting, I think it’s recognition that in a sport dominated by black men that there ought to be some equivalence in management.  It’s worth considering why white people were selected for all these decades when perhaps there were qualified non-whites available.  Sometimes you have to purposefully iron things out - not btw sacrificing qualifications.   In addition it is possible that some players respond to coaches who they perceive may understand them better having lived through some common life experiences (again, that might just be perception- but perception matters).

So experience, x’s & o’s, personality are all primary considerations IMO - all these being relatively equal, race would then be a factor.

Team has two dynamic wings, I want to see a coach that uses the triangle offense.

I could care less what the race and gender of the coach is so long as they can get this team to compete most nights, not force the best players out of town and increase the value of as many players on the roster as possible. Brad did all 3 until this season.

The league is far too competitive to approach things any other way.

With all the recent Alien activity there's a good shot at landing on for our new head coach.

None of the above. None of the poll choices makes for an effective coach. This is the Boston Celtics.
'I was proud of Marcus Smart. He did a great job of keeping us together. He might not get credit for this game, but the pace that he played at, and his playcalling, some of the plays that he called were great. We obviously have to rely on him, so I’m definitely looking forward to Marcus leading this team in that role.' - Jaylen Brown, January 2021
