If trading for Westbrook is the answer, what is the question?

Here are some questions:
1. Is Kemba the answer at PG? And if not, what can you get for him?
2. If we’re not making a big roster change (or making a coaching change), is this team good enough to win it all? And if not, what would you do?

The Westbrook option for me means trading neither of the Jays, keeping CBS, shoring up the PG position with size and shaking up the attitude/culture of the team towards something more fiery and forceful. His contract is terrible but I mean Kemba is pretty much on a max deal too right? They clear the books at the same time too
it's not really clearing the books with Westbrook making a lot more money than Kemba over the same stretch.  if he works out, you're looking at a resigning him for a much higher cost than Kemba too.

I can’t imagine a scenario where resigning Kemba gives us much flexibility though. It seems like we’ll be capped out regardless, whether we want to keep Westbrook in this hypothetical or we want to keep Kemba (and Smart).
it might not but if Kemba has to go out in a deal for another PG, I'd prefer one that is not a defensive liability and is a better passer/ballhandler and a bit cheaper even if that means taking a bit of a hit in the scoring dept.  Westbrook definitely isn't cheaper.

Maybe not.

33% from the field, 0% from 3 on 4 attempts, a 5:4 assist to turnover ratio, 5 fouls and a -19. Kemba was significantly superior

Watching Kemba and Russ tonight, I’m super glad we have Kemba instead of Russ. Russ is definitely not the answer to our problems…

That said, I’m all for dumping Kemba for a TPE if anybody is willing to do that deal (please, Knicks!), even if we had to give up a pick.

How could I forget the rebounds! The most important thing for a point guard :P

THe C's greatest need from the PG spot is probably 3 and D and Pass first facilitator.  Kind of similar in what they need from the C spot, D and rb, and screens/assists.  A trio of Brown, Fornier, Tatum should score plenty.

Or maybe what the Celtics need from their PG is a guy that can go for 29 points, 2 assists, 7 rebounds in a playoff game and that over his last 7 regular season games went for 28 PPG, 4.9 APG, 4 RPG while shooting 50.4/42.6/79.1 with a TS% of 64.8%.

Maybe the PG the Celtics need is the one they already have.

I’m not advocating for trading Walker, but if we did I think we could possibly get 1 1st round pick, if not 2 maybe lottery protected.  If not I’d say to the Knicks good luck in the FA market.  It’s been a frustrating year with Kemba with many games missed and recovering from injury, but he still an excellent player and on quite a roll lately with 2 years left on his contract.  If we got that trade exception along with picks it would be nice to dream big, but I’d consider trying to flip it for a big wing like Jerami Grant, Barnes, or Siakim, and Tatum play more of SF, Brown at SG, Smart at PG with Fournier off the bench just have a little bit of a bigger team.

However, if Kemba continues to play this way I’m fine with keeping him as well. Lol
