If you don't like Smart at $13M, you are going to HATE Westbrook at $40M.

This is a player who:

1) Makes less than 50% from inside the arc
2) Makes less than 33% from outside the arc
3) Makes less than 67% from the free throw line
4) Commits 5 turnovers per night
5) Will have the highest usage on your team

I actually like how hard the guy plays, but he's an absolute team wrecker on paper.

I would consider not watching Celtics games if they signed him.  Just please no

Is he though?  Other than his rookie year, this is the first time his team will finish below a 45 win pace and even saying that the Wizards are a lot better than they were last year.  He is clearly an inefficient scorer, no question, but he does so much elsewhere he makes up for it.

No RW

Celts need Chris Paul type

Not Kyme or RW or Walker

I also really like Dort. Not sure if OKC us willing to trade him

Westbrook plays hard every play and we are missing that kind of guy this year.

We have what 3-4 players that seem like they are trying to win games, and a few guys going through the motions and a bunch of guys not good enough.   That is not a good recipe for success.

I think we need some definite personnel changes but taking the Russell Westbrook pill would be a hard one to swallow....

I would never quit watching the team, never have and never will.

Westbrook is definitely a prickly personality and has worn out his welcome in multiple spots. I’d be interested to see how he would mesh on this team with JT. He’ll either make him or break him.

That being said, he stuffs the stat sheet. What he is doing is pretty historic. Question is does it truly impact winning. If we are trying to offload Kemba, think people need to realize with contracts of that size, there’s only limited possibilities that could work. RW’s contract is a touch pill to swallow but at least it would give the team some size at the position and some ball distribution. RW also never shoots threes so at least he’ll continuously attack the hoop.

Not sure if RW is the right move but I do agree they need some sort of shakeup.

Maybe playing alongside Durant and Harden all those years has something to do with all those seasons of winning 45 games or more? Maybe?!?!?!

Yes. He's something like 1-5 in playoff series without Kevin Durant. He ties up all of your cap space and completely dominates the ball with below average efficiency. No team is sniffing a championship paying 35% of their cap to an aging Westbrook.

As for Washington, they are modestly better (10th in the East!) with Westbrook than they were with the corpses of Isaiah Thomas and Shabazz Napier playing PG last year.

Nobody denies he's talented, but I can hardly think of a worse addition to any team with championship aspirations, unless he's going to completely change his game and take a pay cut.

I said this in another thread. If you trade Kemba an ugly contract is coming back.

Pick your poison.

Ok guys, when I'm playing golf with Danny next week, I'll run it by him, but please, keep in mind that Smart usually got the better of Westbrook.

I will agree that the team won't benefit a great deal with a high volume shooter or whatever his type is called.

BTW, please don't trade Nesmith in an effort to put together a transitional team that isn't going to be that good.

Trade Nesmith for Davis? Ok, but not for Russ...

Please continue with trade ideas as it seems this team could use a trade or two.

I had a thread early this year about a trade of Kemba/Brown for Westbrook/Beal which works in the trade machine. I wasn't sure about it but wrote it's a swing for the fences type move. If you somehow get an under control Westbrook that team is a contender. It would be a kick in the nuts to trade Jaylen away.

Horrible. This Westbrook Renaissance as if he isn't someone who tanks his team year-in year-out when the games start to matter with horrible shooting, lazy defence and a preposterous amount of turnovers is silly.

He makes it his teams destiny to be an early-round exit and he drives other star players away. What a great guy to put alongside Tatum and Brown!

At least Kemba is someone people like being around and he costs about $10m less a year

While I don’t disagree with you, you could also argue that JT/JB have already chased Irving/Horford/Hayward out of town as well for one reason or another.

Given the fact that Horford and Hayward left because they got obscenely high contract offers elsewhere, I don't think you really could argue that. JT and JB didn't force Philly or Charlotte to overpay those two.

We've also seen guys like Kemba specify wanting to play alongside those two as a reason for signing here. Can't recall anyone thinking that about Westbrick
