If we keep losing, I wouldn't be against dumping players for picks/prospects at the deadline. That said, we can be both sellers and buyers. Here's a scenario I'd be happy with.
Trade #1
The Kings have lost 9 straight games. They have the 5th worst record in the NBA. I expect them to be sellers at the deadline.
Imo, Barnes is overpaid. Rule of thumb is that overpaid players on long-term contracts have negative trade value. Don't see why we should surrender multiple picks to aqcuire an overpaid player.
Trade #2
The C's need more shooting and passing. Satoransky fits the bill. He has a shooting split of 54.6-47.1-89.7 this season while averaging 4.6 assists and only 1.5 t/o per game. He's a high BBIQ combo guard who thrives in the half court. He's also 6'7" which means he'd be a nice fit in our switch-heavy defensive scheme.
- Cut Green. Fwiw, his contract is non-guaranteed till February 27 (that's tomorrow).
- Cut Teague and eat his salary.
C's depth chart after the trades
PG: Smart - Pritchard - Ntilikina
SG: Brown - Satoransky - Romeo
SF: Barnes - Nesmith
PF: Tatum - Semi - Grant
C: Theis - Timelord - Noel
Fill the remaining roster spot with one of Otto Porter / Trevor Ariza / Tony Snell via the buyout market.
Ntilikina and Noel are expirings. We'd save $15,732,109 next season, which would help us use the full TPE and still keep our payroll under control.
