I don’t have a problem with Drummond or Adams but Phantom is right about Kanter being able to put up similar video game style  numbers if given the same minutes and role as Drummond.  Kanter usually has periods each year where he puts up crazy numbers for a few weeks but he always ends up back on the bench or having his minutes and role greatly reduced.  Put him in Detroit with the same role as Drummond and he’s gotta be a 20/15 guy... and there would be a lot of Celticsstrong members thinking he would be a great replacement for Theis and maybe we should trade Hayward for him.

Kanter is less athletic, a worse playmaker, and a worse defender. Drummond is no AD on defense but I’d bet he can be an anchor to a very good defense when motivated... and he would be motivated here. Not sure if I’m for/against trading for him but I really doubt he and Kanter are simply interchangeable. Not to mention he would be a much, much better pick and roll option with his finishing and passing.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
It's as simple as the Sixers have really good wing defenders.

Other than Kemba, all our offense is from the wing. Jaylen feasts on poor defense, but his creation isn't their yet to be a primary guy against top level defenders. Jayson has been bad on offense all year, if his jumpers not falling he's basically a net zero on offense. The sixers don't allow the easy looks behind the arc and their good at defending the drive while closing out on jump shots. They basically stole our defensive formula from last year and turned on us.

You are right.  I never said they are interchangeable though.  I said they'd be putting up similar numbers.  If we are going through the list of skills, give Kanter the jumpshooting and free throw shooting advantage.

Yes, but again, you have to account for the fact that you're trading Hayward in the trade. Drummond is not an upgrade at the expense of Hayward + limiting Kanter's role. I feel with Drummond, people are caught up so much with the numbers he puts up, which can be insane I agree, but I only see him as a marginal upgrade over Kanter. Drummond is also someone who is often cited as a liability for the Pistons late in games. He's certainly improved though from 2-3 years ago, but still...
