Some googling got me to the answer of a 16 yo girl to the thread's title: we are in the top-5 but not #1

Also, I'm not sure where you are going with this Larry Bird comment

Am I the only one who sees perfection here?

My goodness I can’t believe I actually read that list.

It was absolutely brutal. The ratings are abysmal. Any person that thinks Daniel Theis and Zaza Pachulia are equally (un)attractive is clearly not qualified on the matter. Al Horford and Andre Iguodala are equally attractive?

What power imbalance? How many whites or males have any actual power?

Won’t get into exercise in futility with you. What is blatantly obvious to me is observed completely differently by you. It would be like us arguing about the color of the sky.  I respect, but can’t comprehend your point of view — sometimes it’s just best to talk about the Celtics, music or movies.

What power imbalance? How many whites or males have any actual power?

For starters -- Trump, Putin, and Pope Francis.  Name one female in the world with more power of influence than any of those 3 males.

One step further -- let's talk about the "power" of law-making in the US.  Currently that advantage is 351-84 for the males in the House and 77-23 for males in the Senate.

Or maybe you subscribe to "money is power".  Of the top 10 wealthiest individuals in the world, nine of them are white males.  One is a Mexican man.

Complete straw man. I asked how many whites or males have any actual power, not who has the most power. I don't have any power. Do you? I suspect that very few do.

Even your straw man has some holes in it. Merkel is on the same level as those 3, Theresa May, and we just had a female of our own almost win after we had a black president. Did your argument cease to exist during Obama's term, or were you just silent? Congress is elected by both males and females -- are the females who elect males sexist? You're also making it sound like all of the elected males **** all over women all day every day. And if an evil 1% exists, that makes the other 99% "one of us." That seems like a good representation of equality for the rest of us.

Can't we just hold everyone accountable for themselves and their families without constantly having to come up with excuses and ACTUAL racism/sexism by implying that females/minorities have inherent disadvantages that democrats must solve (in exchange for votes)? Your entire line of thought is racist: "a person who shows or feels discrimination or prejudice against people of other races, or who believes that a particular race is superior to another."

You asked, "what power imbalance?" and I showed you 3.  You mentioned Merkel being equally powerful to those 3 and I'd disagree.  I would put her reasonably high on the list, but probably no better than 5th below those 3 and also Xi Jinping.  Happy to listen to you refuting that opinion of mine with evidence.  Note that you said "almost won" when referring to Hillary.  She didn't win.  As for during Obama's tenure, he was the first black president in the history of the US.  I think during that tenure, that black people did some catching up to white people in terms of "power".  I still think white people are ahead, but I will certainly say that some catching up was made.  I think the world would be a fairer place if more catching up was to be done too.

To be clear, I don't think democrats have to solve these issues of inherent disadvantages.  I think society needs to solve them.  I also never said any race is superior to another and I don't believe that to be anywhere close to true.  I have stated that one race has more power than others (and provided evidence to back that up) and the reasons for that I believe have nothing do with inherent superiority.

I have no clue what it even means that black people did some catching up in terms of power during Obama. Again, I think that you are a confused person. Absolutely nothing changed because power doesn’t propagate downward that far. He wasn’t calling up your black neighbors asking them for tips on national security. He appointed permanent positions of justices in 2 females, 1 being a minority, but here is the kicker: they represent liberals, not females or minorities. They will side with liberalism over anything... Identical to a male with similar Ideaology. Watch how fast Barrett (a female Trump could appoint to Supreme Court) would support anti abortion politics. Again, you’re just conflating partisanship with demographic power and think that Soto mayor wakes up every day sprinkling power on Hispanics. As mentioned before, liberal does not equal female. There are a lot of non liberal females in this country that are conservatives and Kagan is not a good representative  for them. very few people have any actual power. The rest of us go to work, come home, spend time with our family and go to sleep.

You also admitted that females and minorities have inherent disadvantages but refuse to admit that you are a a racist or a sexist. How? Aren’t we all equal? Do you really think that all minorities and females are born disadvantaged?  I don’t think you meant to say inherent. Don’t feel bad. A lot of liberals share your bigoted point of view. It’s a big reason why I left the party (as a minority myself).

Hey Erik, you're right.  I misspoke and did not mean that society needs to solve problems of inherent disadvantages.  I meant the problems of systemic disadvantages.

But when you're getting to calling my point of view bigoted (someone who you've never met and only had less than a handful of internet exchanges with), I think this conversation is turning away from respectful discourse and I'm going to turn away from this thread.  Its gone too far off-topic to begin with anyways.

(FYI, I unenrolled in the democratic party in 2016 myself too.)
