The 6ers fans are so delusional right now when it comes to this offseason that it has to be coming from somewhere.  Everybody over there from waht I've seen is talking themselves into actually being players for Bron (no way), Paul George (absolutely no way), or a Kawhi trade (a guy they'd have to trade for when there are a minimum of 3 other teams in the league [us, LAL, Mil] who can probably put together a more appealing offer than what Philly would be willing to give to get him).

All of this is a long way of saying I think if they signed Smart to a giant, cap-eating offer sheet, their fans would revolt. They have a WAY, WAAAAYYYYYY higher opinion of where they are in terms of contending and being viewed in the league than what reality states.

I don't think he is a good fit for Philly. They need shooters to put next to Simmons. Smart is a terrible shooter. No way they pay him a ton of money just to have him play ~15 mins per game (when Simmons is sitting on the bench). Not to mention, it's highly unlikely Smart accepts that kind of role in the first place.

The same rationale applies to every team in the East -- if they get Smart, they help themselves and they hurt the team they'll have to get through in the years to come.  As sad as it is, there will probably be a lot of teams willing to ink Marcus to a sizable contract (I would think).   I really hope Danny is able to keep him -- incredibly valuable to this team.

After watching Toronto and Cleveland, I'd surprised if the Raptors didn't make Smart a solid offer. They really need his attitude and toughness very bad.

Do they have any space? DeRozan, Lowry, Ibaka and Jonas V are all on $17-$33m/year contracts

Nope, Toronto barely has any cap space.

Going to be interesting what happens with Smart. Plenty of teams could use him but most teams won't over pay for a defender. There also seems to be less $ available this offseason for teams. Also the conferences top 3 teams seem solid so that may effect a playoff hopeful team's willingness to investment in role players.

With Fultz and Simmons, Philly really needs guys who can shoot.  That's not Marcus.  Don't see him as a good fit there.

Agreed. Potentially letting Redick go to sign Smart would be a step backward.

If Redick re-signs, will probably be a one year deal/one year team option. Otherwise he is probably going to get the MLE.
I think a multi-year 8 million dollar deal is the floor of his value. He had a really good year.

He's going to get more than Marcus in all odds.
agreed.  love Smart but Reddick will get offered more money and rightfully so.  Sixers need Reddick more than they need Smart and they need to sign a player that can be their alpha dog down the stretch of a close game even moreso.

Maybe get more per year but Smart will get longer term and more total $$. Redick is about to turn 34.
