Quote from: meangreenmachine on June 12, 2016, 04:38:35 PMFor those of you who would be disappointed, would you feel better if it resulted in us landing Durant next offseason? Particularly if we also won the lottery next year? But how would it accomplish either of those things?I mean no one (that Ive seen) is suggesting giving up the 2017 pick, and everyone has pretty much made it clear that maintaining cap space for KD this year and next is key.

Not sure anyone could have a worse summer than no trades, no signings and wasting the 3 on the Euromistake.Total EF5 wipeout.
I like Poeltl, but 16,23,31,35 is wayyyyy too much for him in a deep draft. There will be good prospects available at all those spots.
Let's say we are unable to pull off a trade for an all-star and we are unable to woo Durant and Howard. In an attempt to repursue Durant and another all-star next offseason, we stick to minor adjustments saving significant cap space in the process since we have calculated next offseason will see many fewer teams with significant cap space, which will limit competition for max players. How would you feel about the following moves:3. Bender11. Poeltl (In exchange for 16, 23, 31, 35)45. Draft-and-stash51. Draft-and-stash58. Draft-and-stashTake the option on Johnson and Jerebko. Re-sign Turner to a 3-year team discount. Qualifying offer on Zeller.1. Thomas/Smart/Rozier2. Bradley/Smart/Hunter3. Crowder/Turner/Young4. Johnson/Jerebko/Bender/Mickey5. Olynyk/Poeltl/ZellerAdditions: Bender and PoeltlSubtractions: Sullinger and Holland

I will be OK if the team isn't set up to take a major leap forward, if that means the team has recognized the necessity of taking a step back to develop recently drafted players in order to take a step forward long term.If the team is just sticking with the status quo and punting on picking a direction for another year, that is not OK with me.
