Just because the dude is tall and can stretch the floor doesn't make him a Kelly Olynyk comparison. If you watch what little video exists Bender is much more fluid than Kelly, and can switch onto multiple positions that Kelly cannot. He's a plus defender, a strong (though there are conflicting numbers) 3 point shooter, and a great floor runner. You probably couldn't create a player more suited to DA and CBS in a prototyping machine. The only other pick at 3 I could even see is Hield, and that would come with the obligation to trade away... Marcus or Avery. I like Hield, and I wouldn't be sad if we took him over Bender, but if we keep the pick, I am thinking 80% Bender, 20% Hield. Bender has been pretty much the consensus Number 3 pick for MONTHS. Hield addresses our most glaring weakness (which is no longer rim protection, which is second on the list). He is an elite shooter, and an improved slasher, with a reasonable handle. The question is, does he have enough upside? he is not a freakish athlete, and he is a 4 year college player (though I think he did himself a service staying for 4 years).
Murray -- Not a position of need, no elite athleticism (not saying he will not be a good player, just not a good player for us, burried in rotation)
Dunn -- We have "point" guards that cant see the floor currently under contract. We do not need another one. He doesnt want to play here (I guess because of the logjam), He cant shoot.
Brown -- Elite athleticism. NO JUMPER. Does play a position of moderate need, wouldn't be bad behind Jae Crowder, but I think solid starter is the ceiling. He is a Danny Ainge type of player though, I wouldn't love this pick, but it might happen.
Revised Pick %'s (Based on keen guesswork and tomfoolery):
Bender: 70%
Hield: 20%
Brown: 10%
