I know this is a little off-topic (but on topic with the thread title), but what do people here think of Kent Bazemore? I realize he is probably not a max candidate, but he has kind-of exploded this year with the Hawks and has been excellent recently with increased minutes and responsibility. This isn't a player putting up empty stats on a bad team; the Hawks are very good and Bazemore is currently only making $2M and was brought in with fairly low expectations. I imagine he will only get better from here.

It'd also be nice to bring in his teammate, Horford, as they are both restricted free agents  ;)

No interest in Bazemore.

I don't think it is worthwhile for Boston to pay money for another guard. I think most of their backcourt minutes are already occupied by Smart, Bradley and Isaiah - who should get around 90 minutes a game out of 96 total backcourt minutes per game. Plus, Boston needs to develop young guards in RJ Hunter, Terry Rozier and James Young - who will all need playing time moving forward to develop their games.

So I don't think spending money on Bazemore is worthwhile at this point.

Not unless someone (Bradley, Smart or Isaiah) leaves. If one of those guys does leave, I think Bazemore could make a solid replacement option.

I thought of Bazemore as more of a SF than a SG. I realize we have Crowder and [currently] Crowder manning the SF spot, but it's a position that many have said (a wing) at which we need a scoring upgrade.

Oh, and the only reason I brought up Bazemore and Horford is because they are unrestricted, I was just a dummy and wrote [precisely] the wrong  thing.

Bazemore is kinda small. He has average height for two guard (6-5) with a below average frame (skinny, a little over 200lbs). That makes him slightly undersized for a two guard. Too undersized for a small forward. Not able to cover those 6-8 230+lb guys well enough. He would be a well below average defender if he had to defend SFs full time.

I think Bazemore is a one-position type player. Only really a plus player if he can play that two guard spot. Not versatile to cover other positions.

You're making Avery Bradley feel very insecure. He's drinking milk...

I mean Bazemore is actually currently playing SF - he may be undersized, but the Hawks are choosing him over defensive savant, Sefolosha - so he at least has to be holding his own.

Would you give max offers to whiteside derozan an barnes?
I really like Barnes. However he showed in GS he's not that comfortable scoring on iso plays, even if he improved a lot this season.. And if he came here one would assume it would be to be one of the go-to guys. Would still get him and hope he can still develop as that man. He can really play, and understands the game

That 3 man for the Hawks is probably the most rewarding position in the NBA. Other 4 guys on the floor are scoring threats, and since they REALLY move the ball you are always going to get good shots.  He's just a product of a great system with great players. He's exactly the same guy

I don't know what the original poster had in mind in terms of a contract offer, but Bazemore is bound to be overpaid this summer, making him a very expensive depth signing. Of course, we could always deal Bradley and clear up room. Even though the title of this thread is "Max Offers" somehow I doubt the OP was thinking Bazemore would be that expensive. FAs are all going to be expensive the next couple years. I wouldn't be surprised if he commanded anywhere from 10-16 million/year. DeMarre Carroll got 15 million for ****.

Seems like they've been playing much better with Sefalosha running with the starting unit during the last 3 games but Teague and Korver(or whoever is starting) also shoot a fairly high volume.

Might just be that Sefalsoha shoots just enough for Atl's offense where we on the other hand could probably use another offense focused player.

"I think Bazmore has done well. I think Thabo has done well. We feel fortunate that we have two guys who can be in that spot. So, I think we are finding different combinations. For right now, we are sticking with it. Thabo, his length and having guarded the best players for a long time in the league. Having Baze with that second group, another guy that can attack and play pick-and-roll and dribble and do some things. We'll see how it goes," said Budenholzer.

I didn't realize they had put Bazemore back in the starting lineup. I knew Bazemore was there earlier in the season but then they switched to Thabo because their defense had taken too big a hit. They needed more size and length on the perimeter. Surprised they went back to Bazemore as a starter after that.

I wonder who is defending the SF now - Bazemore or Korver. They were switching it back and forth in games I saw earlier in the season but I haven't watched any Hawks games in awhile. I find them a bit boring this year after all the unfulfilled excitement last season.
