great for bonding but everything from jet lag, practices and games to catching the flu bug
may have been disruptive
the celts would have been better off in waltham and playing nba teams in pre season

i don't think that affects you for 3 weeks?

I'm not too worried, we're only 4 games in, just playing teams that are just more talented than we are...it's not a big deal to me yet

i live in england although born and bred a bostonian and used to commute from england so the jet lag i have felt in both directions and it was very real,so i believe it must have effected the players during their practces and games while in europe
there were all the sidetrips and press, pr and, lack of facilities and trainers
then the almost automatic bouts of fall flu over there
those exhiibition games against much inferior talent never challenged matchups
wouldn't the celts been better off with practices at their own facilities ,weight rooms with trainers and coaches instead of a carnival atmoshere
the competitive practices for a roster position, nba pre season games may have also exposed matchups earlier
the flu also effects strength and conditioning  for more than a couple days-my esperience with a team flu was the end of a 15game win streak and 3ot of 5 losses all by 1-2 points because of letdown in defencive intensity due to illness and fatigue--so i believe the celts trip set them back

2007 - 8 game winning streak to start the year.

Excuses excuses. I'm all for trying to explain the reason of things, but we're delving into the world of rationalization.

I actually talked a bit about this on my show today - I went a bit overboard, already said things I regret a bit, no surprise.  But I think it set the team back in that they went over there already knowing whom their starters would be and originally, after the two games, we all thought it'd work.

Now after these final few pre-season games and these first five regular season, it doesn't work and it's back to the drawing board at square one.  So in that sense, yes it did set the team back.  It might've been beneficial to have them get their head handed to them right away.  But we're five in, and I don't think any of us, both internally and us schmucks here from the outside have one correct formula.

Going to be an interesting, yet albeit agonizing next couple of weeks.

CBS I believe said he'd rather stay in Boston and practice .

But it's water under the bridge at this point.

Hopefully ......the ship is righted and we can sail on fairer winds
