I wonder what the price for Big Al is. Sully plus our cap space gets us around 5-6 mil away from Jefferson's 13.5 mil (I forget the rule here, how close do we have to get to his salary to make it work?) some combination of the spare parts we have can probably make a trade work salary wise.

Does Big Al solve all our problems or make us a contender? Yes. Ok, no. But he might be a step in the right direction.

If Al makes $13.5 million (I'll trust you), it's right about the same to do it either staying under the cap or after we've gone over it.  If we're over the cap, we'd have to send out $8.9 million in salary.  If we're under the cap by $4.8 million, we can be no more than $100k over the cap after the trade, which would mean we'd have to send out $8.6 million.  But having acquired David Lee for free, I don't really know that Al is worth giving up assets for.
