Agree with those saying this is the respect tanking gets you.

Not that it's all that, but I do think no one wants to be a part of this awful team and they have no pride or culture built whatsoever.

Please they've got a more defined culture than at least a dozen teams, probably more.

They're a young team that plays hard, generates turnovers on an above average defense and runs the floor.

This pride and culture nonsense is so old. If you want to see a team with no pride look at Denver.

You like what they have going on over what the Celtics do?

It's not old.  It's exactly what Pierce for example brought to the Wizards this year (something all the young players acknowledge).  You hear a veteran like Pierce bring up that kind of thing for a reason.  Remember when he just blasted Brooklyn?  It was about the culture and attitude on the team.  This stuff exists.  This isn't fantasy sports.  These are real people playing and in the organization and all of it shapes the team.  Garnett coming to Boston changed things.  Everyone says that and it's the truth.  You need these type of people playing and coaching.

I think playing for Stevens and with the Celtics attitude and honest effort to win is much more appealing.  Players are thriving in it.  Philly has been a joke and revolving door of D league players.  The management seems like it rubs a lot of players the wrong way.   If your team isn't giving an honest effort to win I'm not sure what you're defending.

Maybe it can be turned around but there's pride I like to see in a team there now.  I am glad the Celtics have approached everything honestly competing throughout a rebuild.

I'm not saying things can't work out in Philly.  Culture can turn around and build around new players if they get their picks right.  Just right now that team is a joke.  That's just how it is.

This doesn't make it quite as bad, but the body language is awful. It's clear he doesn't want to be there. Also read on Reddit that he had bought a house in LA. Not sure why since he was hoping to go 1 or 2, maybe LA made a promise but took it back because they wanted to go after Cousins.

Hey Okafor, best way to get back at LA, Come to the C's! :D

The players are giving an honest effort to win. Lazy players who blow rotations like it's cool don't finish in the top half of the defensive ratings. The only reason Philly was anything but a bottom 5 defense was effort and athleticism, they forced a ton of turnovers and made up for inexperience with ahrd work. Boston had a revolving door of players too this year, and is coming off consecutive losing seasons with less to show for it than Sam Hinkie's tankathon. I like the C's chances more than most people, I don't really agree w/ Chard Ford and Rusillo because I think Ainge at some point will be able to take a shot. But, the idea that Sam Hinkie's "taking a risk" with what he's doing and Ainge isn't holds little water, if Ainge can't swing a trade for a superstar or hit on a late teens draft pick where are the C's getting a star? Free Agency isn't likely. Trades are really hard to pull off, and there are a few teams right now that could a might want to outbid him.

So yes, right now I see a clearer path to contention for the Sixers than the Celtics even if it will be a bit longer and involve more regular season losses. They've got 3 prospects better than any of the Celtics, 4 first round draft picks next year and enough cap space to offer 2 maxes if they want.

They've got a good coach like Boston, and a GM who if nothing else will avoid cripplingly stupid moves. Say what you want about Hinkie, but if they canned him the next GM would be coming into a situation where he had plenty of cap space, draft picks and some decent prospects.

This was about a 25-30 win quailty team in the games after the all star break before they moved Nerlens to PF for experience playing next to Embiid(and they lost all of those games because Furkan Aldemir is not a rim protecting extraordinaire to say the least).

And here's the final thing... Hinkie and Ainge have done the same thing. Ainge just started with 2 HOF, and a roster that hadn't just been shredded by the Bynum trade.

So how does a joke team with bad culture and a bunch of d-leaguers end up with an above average NBA defense?  Maybe the view from outside doesn't accurately represent their situation.  Thomas Robinson was really upset when the Sixers claimed him from waivers.  However once he got their, his tune changed because he was given more of an opportunity to play and show his abilities.

The Sixers didn't lose because of bad culture and poor effort.  They lost because of limited talent especially on offense.

I don't know if this incident means anything but has anyone heard anything about the Sixere finally getting into the free agent market?  Are they planning to tank again next season?

Mike
A month ago I read that they were prepared to make a max offer for Tobias Harris.   I honestly still believe Embiid is going to play next season... so it'll be interesting how long they hang onto the three towers and when they finally pull the trigger on someone's godfather offer... because all three of those bigs are going to be EXTREMELY valuable.  You could trade any one of them for Boston's entire lot of "assets", for example.

Philly is in great position.  I don't know if Hinkie will take the next step, but a good GM can turn that team into a winner immediately.   They have the assets and cap space to do anything.

Gleaning through the replies, I feel like that I am in the minority here with regard to my earlier opinion on the matter. Although it may be a case of much ado about nothing, my instant reaction based on body movement and gestures led me to that conclusion. Perhaps I should be more receptive to the players' view on matters affecting their careers. I was coming from a management perspective and empathized...

Looks to me like the first raise/drop was setting the jersey on the table below, and then he drops it in a way that the jersey was probably left folded in half on the table. If that's all it takes to be considered unprofessional, then I don't even know what to say.
