No thanks. If we bring him in, what's the point of having James Young on our roster? He'll just block Young's rise.

The disparity between current James Young and current Eric Gordon is so high you couldn't realistically say no to Gordon simply because we have Young.

Ya don't like EG's size? His game? His injury history? Fair, all of these are factors that would go into the decision but James Young is not at a point development in his development where ensuring him minutes would be so high on the list of factors that it would swing the decision either way.

Gordon played in 65 of the Pelicans 86 total games and basically every game in 2015.  He played in 64 games last year (for the record Anthony Davis played in only about 10 more games combined those two seasons).  There are obviously injury concerns with him, but at this point they are bit overblown.

If we struck out in free agency I'd probably do something like Bradley for Gordon.  Boston could use the bigger and better offensive player and it gets Boston out of the long contract that is Bradley.  New Orleans could use the better defender so I think it makes sense for them as well.  Now admittedly I am not a big fan of Bradley and really don't see him as a long term player on the Celtics, well at least a contending Celtics team anyway, so that plays in a bit.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I wouldn't give up anything of value for him. Wallace and maybe a 2nd rounder?

Why would the Pelicans do that?  Gordon is the better player and a 2nd wouldn't be enough to make up the difference.  Both players expire after the season, is $4million off this year worth it, are they in need of cap space?

I'd do Wallace, 28, 33, and 45 especially if the AB for 12 and Hood rumors were accurate.  I think Gordon would flourish in Stevens system.

Can't see New Orleans doing Wallace and a 2nd or even two either.

However, if Asik leaves in FA (I don't think he will) and GS hasn't dumped Lee yet, I could see NOP switching Gordon into Lee to play with AD for a year. Especially if the Celtics haven't had any bites in free agency themselves at that point.

So:
Boston out: Gerald Wallace
Boston In: Eric Gordon

New Orleans out: Eric Gordon
New Orleans In: David Lee

Golden State out: David Lee
Golden State in: Gerald Wallace

Why for Boston: For an extra ~5M, they turn their 15th man into Gordon who has one fairly elite skills. Hitting 3pt at a high clip. Since the Celtics take an above average number of three's but were 27th in the league in 3P%, there is definitely a role for him.

Why for New Orleans: It is cap neutral and Lee fills a hole.

Why for Golden State: Turns Lee's $15M unstretchable contract into Wallace's deal that can be stretched. Saves them close to $12M off this years cap without having to give up assets to dump salary.

That trade works, maybe G state even keeps old man Wallace around to keep everyone focused in the post title hangover year, Crash is definitely not afraid to call people out if they aren't working hard enough. They are really making the trade as a favor to David Lee who is a great fit with AD, and is durable which is above all else what NOP needs.

I'd do this trade even if we had to give up a late pick like 28 to move Wallace. Definitely worth it for a former top 3-5 shooting guard.

TP, good stuff.
