Looking at their list. #6, though. Really?
So a 24 yr old PG that is currently averaging 11 p, 9.2 a, 5.8 r, and 1.8 s is not an emerging star, yet 24 yr old Rajon Rondo that averaged 10.6 p, 11.2 a, 4.4 r, and 2.3 s was. Got it.
Rubio is shooting 36%. As bad as Rondo is shooting this year, he is still shooting over 40%. He has never shot below 40%.
I would also say that when Rondo started being considered a top PG was when he started having dominant playoff performances. It wasn't just his regular season numbers.
I like Rubio's ability to rebound, but there is also a big difference between 11.2 apg and 9.2 apg. I do generally consider them comparable as players and I think Rubio could still have some major improvement in the following years. That shooting percentage is still shocking. He can shoot from the line though and consistently draws more fouls than Rondo.
Rubio's 34% from 3 his rookie year make me a lot more skeptical of Smart's ability to hit the 3, especially since Smart is now down to .325 from 3.
