An ESPN article said that Dieng (1st) and Shabazz (3rd) would go top-3 in a redo of the 2013 Draft?

Was the writer drunk?  Giannis and Oladipo are much better prospects than either.

Gobert is the best rim protecter in the NBA and Noel is better than both too.

He's either drunk or stupid.

Great job by the Wolves.

So hypothetically add Okafor or Towns to Wiggins. That could be sick.

Well done by Minn, I have to give them credit they are really coming out of the Love situation very well. They have managed to score a young super star and by bringing KG back they have bridged the gap between their most successful years and the new rebuild. This team will take some time grow but with a little lottery help they could be the next OKC grass route elite team in the west.

I'm hoping they blossom next year such that the C's get that 1st-round pick.

Looking at their list. #6, though. Really?
So a 24 yr old PG that is currently averaging 11 p, 9.2 a, 5.8 r, and 1.8 s is not an emerging star, yet 24 yr old Rajon Rondo that averaged 10.6 p, 11.2 a, 4.4 r, and 2.3 s was.  Got it.
Rubio is shooting 36%. As bad as Rondo is shooting this year, he is still shooting over 40%. He has never shot below 40%.

I would also say that when Rondo started being considered a top PG was when he started having dominant playoff performances. It wasn't just his regular season numbers.

I like Rubio's ability to rebound, but there is also a big difference between 11.2 apg and 9.2 apg.  I do generally consider them comparable as players and I think Rubio could still have some major improvement in the following years. That shooting percentage is still shocking. He can shoot from the line though and consistently draws more fouls than Rondo.

Rubio's 34% from 3 his rookie year make me a lot more skeptical of Smart's ability to hit the 3, especially since Smart is now down to .325 from 3.

Rondo was 24 in 10/11 (his 5th year in the league), that is when people were talking about him in that regard as a future star.  He was an all star and 1st team all defense that year.  Rondo was 23.3% from three and 56.8% from the line that year, though was a respectable 49.5% from two.

Rubio is terrible from two at an awful 38.8% and not much better from three at 27.3%, but is a very respectable foul shooter at 80.3% (and gets to the line at 3.7 a game).  The rest of their stats are pretty darn close.  Rondo more assists, Rubio more rebounds.  Rubio is also in his third year and playing on a bad team while Rondo was in his 5th year surrounded by HOFers in their primes (the tail end of prime, but still prime).

I really don't think the comparisons are that far off.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

My only take away is that this kid put in a lot of effort to ultimately just become a Timberwolves fan.
