I disagree (respectfully).
I understand that we need a better than average big man, but acquiring one of the cast offs that were unwanted by their teams appeared to be the only option.
We've got Zeller, Bass, Sullinger and Olynyk and Olynyk is expected back soon.
Not sure who you think Danny could have gotten that would've pushed us over the edge and into the playoffs but after seeing that the Nets upgraded, the Pistons upgraded and the Heat upgraded (before Bosh went down), making the playoffs as a sorrily losing team probably wasn't on Danny's priority list.
What assets would we have to give up to get one of those guys anyway?
I wouldn't want to give away any decent assets for the chumps that were available at the deadline.
I'd argue that Zeller is playing better than Kanter and Plumlee and as good, if not better than Lopez- who is a 24/7 foot injury away from sitting out the rest of the season anyway- not to mention his bazillion $ contract.
Really can't see the point in letting this team overachieve with a bad roster, then give away assets to push for the 8th seed as a massively losing team.
Boy, that front court is going to win us a championship or 6.
By the way, Sully is out for the year and Olynyk is hurt.
So we were winning a championship or six by acquiring the deadline scrubs that were available?
Tell me who we could have gotten that would have made us a playoff threat?
We also didn't know Sullinger would be out for the year and Olynyk is not out for the last 30 games.
It's frustrating seeing our guys get torched out there but they've made it this far themselves, so let them see where they can get on their own.
T
hey lost Sully but gained Thomas, rebounding will hurt but we've got a go to scorer now.
Zeller will also get 30 games to show off his skills and increase his value before draft night incase we decide to bundle him with a pick to get another good prospect.
Patience young grasshopper.
