I don't know where comes the bravado. Maybe you saw too much Rex Ryan interview  ;)
At the end of the day the Raptors, Nets  and Knicks will have a better record than the celtics I think.
Just for the Raptors: Amir Johnson is better than any big men on the celtics roster. (I bet if he would be a celtic people would cry why he's not an all star)
As for Smart: when was the last time a rookie guard dominated in his first year? He will not even play that much.
You try to play games with Rondo, he's gone. You just don't understand. You can't put a nobody in a place of a star and expect the star will be happy and happily stay with the team.
Ray left because of it, and Rondo who's in his prime will leave in a minute if you put him on the bench because of Smart or Bradley. Get real.

One interview I saw long ago was Jimmy Johnson when he had first taken over the Dolphins and he drafted Zach Thomas at LB in the 5th round and started him and I think he won DROY

People accused him of cutting vets and starting rookies over them and he said "If you're a vet doing your job you have no bigger fan than me, but I had to start some rookies because our rookies were just better than our vets. If you're a vet getting outplayed by a rookie you definitely need to be concerned."

If Smart outplays Rondo then that's that. No reason to give a guy like that a max contract. Max contract means max effort. If Rondo puts out max effort he should have no problem beating out Smart. But we don't have to hold the team hostage or something because Rondo might leave.

This works both ways. You think Smart won't remember how he's being treated now? What happens 4 years from now when Smart is like 24 and Rondo is like 33? When Smart is up for free agency and he knows he was held back despite outplaying an all star?  If it happens it happens.

And I take Jared Sullinger over Amir Johnson all day. I respect Amir. I just don't think he's better. Sully is still in the improvement phase of the game and Amir isn't.

Also of the last 6 ROY 5 were guards

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
I don't think we have a very good team, but as the OP stated, I'm not impressed with this division at all.

If we can get career years from enough developing players I think we could absolutely steal the division.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I agree with this a lot. I think a smart GM and smart coach will not let that happen. I would like to believe Danny is smart enough to boot players he does not see fit for the team

In basketball the best 8-9 guys should be who plays regardless of veteran status or not.  Sometimes you have to play guys you don't want too with fouls and injuries.   Sometimes you play a guy off the bench as a spark or sixth man who might be better than starters.   But if your trying to win, you want your best  8-9 players as a rotation.   The vets might have a leg up in coming into camp, they know the system and demonstrated performances that the coach trusts.  But if a rook takes their position so be it.
