It depends on what the rest of the roster looks like.
If we're continuing the rebuild, then keep Green. He's younger and cheaper.
If we add quality veterans and are attempting to win immediately, then Deng is the better player.
This.
Roy is 100% correct. Deng can play against any team and guard any small forward.
He's done a lot of miles but the majority of those miles, in my opinion, were 'nagging' in the sense that if Tom Thibadeu hadn't run his Bulls teams into the ground and played Deng, Noah and Rose 40 minutes a night, then we wouldn't hear about his injuries. Everyone that plays that many minutes will be injury prone.
He's less than a year older than Rondo.
Before he was traded to Cleveland he was a 19 point, 7 rebound, 3.5 assist player. Keep in mind that he was playing 37-38 minutes a night lol. So in Boston we'd be cutting that to 32-34 minutes or even less so his numbers would drop.
But, that still doesn't change the fact that the major difference between Green and Deng is that Green will score 40 points one night, then 8 points the next. Deng is a consistent 16-20 points per night and gives you superior defense.
The only problem with Deng is is inconsistent 3 point shooting. That's where the benefit of having Love comes in to stretch the floor.
Depends on his price too. At age 28 he'll be looking for 14-16 million a year and I dunno if we'll be able to compete with teams like Charlotte who will pay $16 million for him.
I'd rather get him in the 12-14 million range.
The guy is just a workhorse and you know exactly what you're getting from him.
We need a solid defender with Love and Martin and a consistent 3rd wheel to help carry the scoring load and bail us out with 15 foot jumpers in collapsed offensive sets.
Remember that Deng is a two time All Star.
Green is lucky to make the All Star Ballot.
