He won't be back.  Most Danny will offer him is 5 million a year. That is a big paycut for a guy that made 12.  He is looking for 8 a year imo and danny can't commit that money to a bench player right now

They're just laying some groundwork in case the Celtics make moves so that Humphries could be the starter next season.

prolly so
If we make moves where Hump is are starting PF, something got screwed up.  means Sully, if not Sully and KO, were traded for someone other than a better PF.  There's no centers on the known market I'd trade Sully for and I certainly wouldn't trade sully for a smaller player (yes, there are exceptions but players like Bron and Harden aren't on the market)

Don't make the assumption that a player who you think isn't available now will not become available in the summer.

No sense in doing a deal before the draft and the expiration of the big TE. It's fine to say we'd like to have Hump back if it fits into our plans, we like you, etc. Other than that, no way. We already have Bass' deal to move that's taking up space.

I'm thinking Bradley may come back on a 1 year $4M prove it deal. He's been so injured every year since he's been in the NBA it seems. He's really just a collection of flashes  .. . without any truly sustained success on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. How much better is he than Tony Allen? TA has been getting $3M and change on average for most of his prime years. Bradley shouldn't be worth much more than TA.

I think it more likely that Humphries comes back on a one year $8 million deal than it is that Bradley would come back on a 1 year $4 million  deal.

Getting Hump for one year on an overpay makes a ton of sense, IMHO. He gets to mentor the young guys some more. He gets his really good pay day that few other, if any, teams will give him. The C's get him off the books before the season they are really looking to make ways, the 2015 off season. Hump, I think, gets a no trade clause and so if he wants, he's guaranteed to be here all next year if he likes Boston that much.

Win-win as I see it as I expect Bass is gone this off season.

Why does it always have to be some kind of underlying soap opera reason for Hump wanting to be here???  Humphries, has said several times that he loves this team and would like to remain here.  he has been an asset on and off the court and the other players have said he is a great morale booster in the locker room so, in my book, if he can work something out with Danny where both parties are happy, then there is nothing else to talk about.  just keep him on, I think he's a great fit for this team.

TP DesertDweller. And I'd like to add to that.

For a number of reasons it could make sense for both sides. If we make big moves, for example, he could be a good rotational big for us at the right money. if we blow again next season, he could be a continued solid veteran presence for our young team. I've been very pleasantly surprised with Humphries this year. He plays hard, has a decent mid range shot and really humps it up and down the court for a big man.

But beyond that, I just think that a lot of veterans don't understand Boston until they come here and put the jersey on. it happened to KG and I'm sure Humphries feels the same way. So if money is relatively equal I could see him very much wanting to stay in Boston.

Boston isn't like most other NBA teams - I think it's a unique and unexpected experience for players.

I also have a good feeling about Chris Johnson. he's got that fifth gear and really hustles. that speed along with a little practice beyond the arc and this first year kid could be very dangerous!!!
This could be one of Danny Ainge's best moves, signing this kid for next year.
