How did Nerlens Noel compare to Davis?

is Noel a wildcard ROY candidate next season?
Noel didn't have enough of an offensive game. Until Noel shows more jump-shooting and shot creation skills, he is not at that level. More comparable to J.Noah or M.Camby. Someone with elite defensive + rebounding potential but has a limited offensive game.

I don't expect him to be a RoY candidate. I was expecting more like Noah when Noah was a rookie with 20-25mpg while putting up around 6ppg and 6rpg. Noel is too skinny and I don't think he is physically ready to compete yet. He'll get pushed around too easily in the paint (for now). I think Noel will need another year or two before he is ready to start + play big minutes. Then again, Philly have torn apart their roster so much (dumped S.Hawes) that Noel might get 30-35 minutes a night regardless of whether he is ready or not (because there is just so little talent on their roster) ... in which case, he could pad his stats nicely and put up a double double (10/10/2 blocks) but probably be one of the weaker starting centers in the league and his team will lose a huge number of games again next year. I think Wiggins will do more and J.Parker will have gaudier scoring numbers. So that should put them ahead of Noel for RoY regardless. Noel has good shot at being First team All-Rookie.

We all know these three are not at the same level as durant or lebron. But also considered to have a higher upside than an anthony bennett.

Davis I would consider to be just below durant, lebrons level of talent. For now anyways. So are the 2014 top three at the same level or below talent ,upside as davis?

Anthony Davis is on the same level as LeBron + Durant. Future MVP.

Wiggins is too. Embiid is more raw than the others but I think he has that type of potential too. More risk with him than others though. Both have franchise player / MVP talent.

No way is Jabari Parker in the same league. All-Star talent. Not MVP talent.

Agreed. I realize that a lot on this board want Parker, but I'd much rather we end up with Wiggins. I think he'll end up being the bigger star, an MVP-level talent.

Parker and Wiggins are going to be all-stars. Maybe not right away but sooner than later.

Embiid has that potential but that back injury def scares me. I'm hoping Embiid just needs to get stronger and that will make him less injury prone. I remember reading a quote from A Davis saying that his rookie year he was just getting pushed around and had to work on building muscle and getting stronger. The kids done that and more. He's a beast.

Who in the NBA could you trade for A Davis? The list would be real short as he's already one of the best players and just turned 21. Pelicans are set for the next 10-15 years.

Mike Gorman kind of echoed my thoughts last night; I had no idea Davis would be so good offensively, especially so soon. I knew he was the best talent in that draft but he's smashing expectations right about now. Rather have him than any other first overall pick over the last 5-10 years. Probably going back to LeBron.

But I think Wiggins, Parker and Embiid are all comparable prospects coming into the draft. That is to say, they're as comparable as when Davis was coming into the draft. All are 5 star draft picks, IMO.

Only Embiid and Wiggins have that ceiling. Parker doesn't because he's not a two way player. Both of them could reach out or neither of them could.

That's why Parker is the safe pick. You know his flaws whereas you will never know what is going to hold back Embiid and Wiggins at the next level.

Why not?  If he doesn't play at all this season, he'll still be considered a rookie next season.

See Blake Griffin.

I just had to check, but I was interested to find out that if he plays one game, one single game this season, he's not eligible, unless the NBA weighs in.

Davis has the size to dominate nearly all aspects of a game. ....like A young KG .

Wiggins and Parker's game will be a offensive dominate .....Melo, or Kobe style ....still needing a big center to help them .....they aren't Lebron or MJ ......freaks of nature.

Davis is a franchise player .   The Lakers will do everything in their power to obtain him.  .....just as they did for Howard ....spend very waking minute luring him.

I believe the man who will a Slow down Davis ....somewhat or will contain him .....in the future will be Drummond .

Their games in a a couple years will be epic.

All the while the Celtics can't even get a stupid  top 25 center on the team

Davis and Drummond will eventually take over .....Lebron can't force his will inside more than another three years max .

So....... MayBe Embiid has something to say about all this .

Danny should SIT Green. And Rondo down ......quit wasting time .......play just the rookies and Bab and Johnson with Bayless.

There is no reason to play Rondo and Green .....other than screw up,a chance at Parker , Embiid or wiggins

Even the Pelicans are getting ready to sit players ,  develope Withy and Rivers .....

I just don't understand playing Rondo, Green and Hump , more then a handful of minutes

The season is over"........

All strategies should be for getting the best pick possible

Come on DA ...... So just stop already with the  fake trying crap or caring ....we are with you

Tank us out good.

If you read DraftExpress, you'd have a tough time equating Davis with Embiid:

"Standing 6-10 in shoes, with a 7-4 wingspan, and arguably the most impressive blend of athletic tools we've seen in a big man prospect in our nine years evaluating the NBA draft, Davis is one of the most physically gifted players on this planet at the moment. ... He runs the floor incredibly well, is outrageously quick and explosive off his feet, moves extremely smooth and fluidly, and perhaps best of all, is more than willing to use his gifts to his advantage on seemingly every possession."

vs

"Standing out at first glance with his 240 pound frame and 7'5 wingspan, Embiid looks the part of a NBA center. Very new to the game of basketball, the Kansas commit has a limited feel for how to make his presence felt consistently, and doesn't always know his limitations, but flashed some intriguing tools on both ends of the floor, even though he wasn't at 100%. Knocking down a 20-foot jump shot, making a nifty move to score a left handed hook shot in the post, and putting in some impressive efforts on the offensive glass, Embiid has some unique skills for a player only beginning to pick up the nuances of the game.

On the defensive end, Embiid is a talented shot-blocker who has the tools to become an excellent defender on the ball and rotating over from the weak-side down the road. The Basketball Without Borders product is a bit foul prone and could stand to be more aggressive pursuing the ball off the rim, but his timing was impeccable at certain moments in practice."

I think all of them are Anthony Davis-level prospects. Especially Wiggins and Embiid.
