2014 offseason moves to build a contender.

Trade our *6th* pick, 2015 Clippers top 5 protected,  2015 celtics pick top 8 protected, Jared Sullinger, Bass, Bogans unguaranteed deal to Minnesota for Kevin Love and parts to make it work.
um, no.  waaay overpaying for Love.  Love's better than Sully but not by the amount you're throwing in.  3 first rounders and Bass.  Love has health issues (hand this year) and you've managed to clear out all our PFs in this and the next deal.  Also, no guarantee Love resigns with us after next year.

Trade Jeff Green, Joel Anthony's expiring, Gerald Wallace, KO, ATL 2014 first lets say *18* to Houston for Omer Asik and Jeremy Lin.
Again, no.  overpaying.  you end up keeping Rondo but bring in Lin -- someone who becomes a very expensive backup.  Green alone should be enough for Asik and then some.  You also give Houston KO and a first rounder that you cannot trade due to the deal you just made with Minny.  way, way too much for Asik who's going to make a ton of money next year (regardless of only about 1/2 applying to the cap).  He's a fine defensive center that rebounds but he's useless on offense.  If we're paying that much money (and will be expected to pay a lot when we try to resign him after next year when his contract's up) I want a player that's effective on both ends of the floor.

Resign Bradley to a 3 year/ 4.5 mil per year deal(espn suggested).
ok cost and time-wise.  I think he'll get a better offer than that from someone.  Problem is, he's not a starting-quality SG and you haven't addressed that problem with these trades.

If the deals are done like this I would doubt we would have enough room to bring in Melo but that is the goal so do whatever we have to do to bring in Melo. If we did our starting lineup would look like
how?  you've locked up a ton of money in Rondo, Love, Asik, Lin.  No money for Melo.  even if you're proposing to get Melo in 2016, Rondo, Love, Asik and the other players impacting cap holds keep us from having the money to lure Melo.  not to mention, Melo and Love would be a swiss-cheese defensive combo at forward.  sure we'd score, but we'd be scored on as well.

Rondo-Bradley-Melo-Love-Asik that is roster that could compete with just about anybody and I think they would complement each other well with their strengths and weaknesses. What do you guys think?
Not really.  Indy and Miami are better balanced than this roster.  their players can score AND defend.

It's a playoff team but without much depth.  you've cleared the bench of talent except for the very overpriced Lin.  we've got CJ, Fav and a bunch of flotsam on vet min deals.  you've given away the draft picks so that we have no good young talent.  We have a center that cannot score, a SG guard that cannot create shots for himself and is an inconsistent shot at best and a PG who's still working his way back to health and his FT shooting up to 70%.  Sure, Melo and Love won't mind hoisting 30 shots a game each but this team won't have much choice in that matter since there's no other options.

And what would you guys do this offseason?
If this year's pick is top 4, take BPA.  Outside of top 4, seriously look into dealing it for either a solid borderline allstar (or recent pick with untapped potential) and a late-lottery first rounder this year.  Take the BPA's with each pick this year regardless of position.  If 2 options are of equivalent skill, take a center, SG or SF in that order.

Let Bayless and Hump's deals expire.  Try to Trade Bogans for a young player that may need a change of scenery to a team that's looking to cut ties and cut salary.  if no such deal, cut Bogans.

With Bass now an expiring deal, try to move him this summer to a team looking to build their bench that now thinks they can take him on.  He's a very solid backup PF in the last year of a very reasonable contract.  again, take on a young player that may need a change of scenery and get a future pick for him -- preferably a first rounder or a project-high second.

I can't foresee any takers for Green or Wallace so they're most likely staying at least one more year.  Ideally, I'd flip Green for Asik and a future first.  I'd argue with Houston that it would be a very late pick so they should just fork it over.

If we get a good SG out of the draft, seriously look into a S&T of AB to another team if he's looking for too much $ or years.  if he can be resigned on a reasonable deal do it, if not and no S&T possible, let him walk.  He's a good defender, so-so shooter and not capable of taking any PG minutes and be productive.  I'm not going to sign a bench player to big money.  CJ's a lot cheaper and provides better offense and can improve his D over the summer and in camp.

Keep Fav.  see if we can get him into the rotation next year.

Bring Pressey in for next year but he needs to show some improvement to keep him around.

Bring in Iverson from Europe.

Projected Roster based on what I think is realistic from above: Rondo, AB, Wallace, Sully, KO, Fav, CJ, Asik, young player from trading high 1st, rookie with 1st rounder from trade-down, 1st rounder from Nets pick, young player from Bass trade, Pressey, Iverson.  14 players.
depending on which young players we acquired in the trades, we'd probably have to sign a vet SG or SF for MLE as well.
that roster misses the playoffs next year in all likelihood and we add another high lottery pick from the 2015 draft which is supposed to have a number of quality big men available.
