2014 offseason moves to build a contender.

Trade our *6th* pick, 2015 Clippers top 5 protected,  2015 celtics pick top 8 protected, Jared Sullinger, Bass, Bogans unguaranteed deal to Minnesota for Kevin Love and parts to make it work.

Trade Jeff Green, Joel Anthony's expiring, Gerald Wallace, KO, ATL 2014 first lets say *18* to Houston for Omer Asik and Jeremy Lin.

Resign Bradley to a 3 year/ 4.5 mil per year deal(espn suggested).

If the deals are done like this I would doubt we would have enough room to bring in Melo but that is the goal so do whatever we have to do to bring in Melo. If we did our starting lineup would look like

Rondo-Bradley-Melo-Love-Asik that is roster that could compete with just about anybody and I think they would complement each other well with their strengths and weaknesses. What do you guys think?

And what would you guys do this offseason?

I really think it'll be a quiet offseason outside the draft and the Bradley contract talks.

I'm guessing the real action happens in 2015.  Whether at next year's trade deadline or Summer 2015.

I think the Celtics are looking at another bridge year but with things starting to trend upwards in 2014-15.

Draft one of the stars with our pick.  Trade Rondo to the Lakers for their pick... draft a future star.   Build around Sully and our two rookies + the other 500 picks we have coming to us.  Contender in 3-5 years.

Still wouldn't be better than IND or MIA.

There is gonna be a lot of flux with Miami in the next couple years. I think that team can play with Indy in a series. Rondo will have the time of his life setting up melo and love and if Avery can pitch 12-16 a game and rondo can keep people honest along with Asik manning the defense I think we would go toe to toe with Indy and Miami. And we are still going to have a plethora of picks to use past 2015.

Ugh I hate the word "contender".

Truth is, there's only 2, maybe 3 contenders every year and if a move doesn't put your team as a "contender", its a bad, useless move to some. It's incredibly hard to become a "contender".

That said, im bored so here's my idea to put us on the right track...

1) S&T for Gordon Hayward
2) Draft Andrew Wiggins
3) Trade for Omer Asik

I like your suggestions. I think a Love/Asik front court would be really sweet!!

Personally, if it were me, I wouldn't run it back with Rondo/Bradley in the backcourt.

I think one of these guys needs to go, in place of a more prolific scoring guard.

Another move that I would make?

Try to find a way to ship out Rondo and acquire Kyrie Irving.

Here would be my summer transactions

3 team deal just after July 1st between Celts, Lakers and Cavs
Lakers get Rondo and Brandon Bass
Celts get Pau Gasol in a S&T and Kyrie Irving
Cavs get Lakers 2014 1st rounder, Jeff Green, Brandon Bass, Clippers 2015 1st rounder and Vitor Faverani

Deal later in the summer (July 31st to be exact so it can be EXACTLY 7 years since the KG deal

Celts deal both of their first round drat picks from draft night, Sullinger, Avery Bradley and Kelly Olynyk for Kevin Love.

There's no Asik involved, but the team features a trio of Kyrie, Love and Pau Gasol.

There is two ways to go here. Say we end up with the 5 or 6th pick. Go this route.

Trade the 6th pick Sully jeff green and a future pick for Klove and J.J. Barea.

Free agency. Grab Carmelo. By making a move to get love that shows Melo we want to win now and for the future. He comes here with a Core of Rondo Love Melo. The new big 3.

From there fill in the pieces. Keep Bass around use pieces to pick up a center who just wants to rebound and play d.


That would be a contender for the next five years.


If we get a top 3 pick, and all Parker,Embid, and Wiggins come out you draft one of them and look to be a contender in the next 3 years.

It's easy to say let's trade for Love and Anthony but it's so hard to do, and you need willing trade partners.   It you look at the last few trades they came out of left field, and I think hardly anyone predicted them.

I think it will be an interesting offseason though, but it could subtle moves to address interior D and wing scoring.  We could address those things by first using the stretch provision on Wallace, using the 10 mil trade exception, trading Bass and Bogan's contract, maybe a couple second round picks for something.  I think it's probably going to be those types of moves. 

I really want to see Sully at PF next year instead of C and see what he looks like.  Especially using a summer to train and not rehab.  I'm in no rush to trade him.  I think we could see Hump and Bayless signed to cheap deals since they like it here.  Finally I'd love to see Pierce return in a bench supporting role (maybe behind Parker!) to end his career here.

  That team won't contend before Love hits free agency, or probably after. You've got Love, a young draft pick and 3 of Bass/Green/Bradley/Rubio in your starting lineup.

I like Bradley over Hayward just because of the defense he provides. Love and melo will take a majority of the shots I think we would have enough scoring with 2 25+ ppg players.

Make our best possibles offer for Cousins, if they say no then go with this:

Sully, pick, clippers pick, and another celts pick with G. Wallace for Love.

Bass and Green and 2nd rounders (maybe another 1st) for cap space or a center (Gasol). Last case we grab Asik or some other for a low price.

Then grab Carmelo.

Proposal: let all the expirings except for Bradley walk, use the T.E plus a 1st rounder (not our own 2014) to get Asik, then trade for either Melo or Love with our other assets. Perhaps we wind up with Rondo, Bradley, Green, Love, Asik as our starters or alternatively something like Rondo, Bradley, Melo, Bass, Asik. Thats not counting who we pick in the draft or which of Sully, Olynyk get to keep. Probably neither, but you never know...

I think this draft will define what becomes of Rondo ( his choice or DA) to remain on the team and how DA will go about reconstructing the team .

I am in the group that wanted A lot of players moved to ensure a lottery pick.

If we get a sucky pick 6 or worse , he may try and Trade players to get a FA elite ....and if that don't work .....well it will be a long time for this rebuild


I really don't think DA knows what he ll do till he knows where he drafts.

I know this ...every game the Celtics win , making our pick less valuable sets this team further back.
