I watched the presser and it was tough, but at the same time it properly closed a chapter. Some fans don't get it, but it's a business and even though Pierce looked and sounded emotionally drained he gets it.

Pierce said he wants to be a GM someday. And if he was offered same deal Danny Ainge got from Brooklyn, he said he would have taken it.

Pierce views himself as a "glorified role player" with #Nets, "there's going to be nights when I'm not going to score bunch of points."

with. My ultimate drive is winning a championship. I think we're going to be right up there with the best of them"

it just isnt 15 yrs of support, it is 15 yrs of extreme up and downs, and more downs, and more downs.  seeing pierce leave, for some like myself, will take more time to "move on".

Will i support the team, absolutely (ive had season tickets with my family since the 80s, and on my own during the 90s to today).  but thinking some people can just move on, isn't so easy to do.  aside from pierce being my fav player, the run the celts have had since the 07-08 season have been special.  the teams have reflected the city.....hard work, ubuntu, etc.  so even move on from the last few yrs, isnt easy, especially knowing that we wont win much, we will constantly be the underdog, etc.

people "get" the business side of it, they "get" that the time for change was probably needed.....but it doesn't make it easy, especially since people here are fans.  fans get emotionally attached to the team, they become loyal to teams, players, etc.  "moving on" from such a major change, all within a month's time isnt easy

And it's not going to be easy, but the fact is the C's as we've known them aren't remotely the same and that chapter today. How fans deal with it is up to them.

obviously its up to the fan to deal with it how they want....but telling people they can move on and that "some fans dont get it", probably isnt the best approach imo

Most of us "get" it, but many of us aren't ready to move on, or let these wounds heal.

Paul has been my favorite player since the Bird days, (and KG the last few), and he was the only reason I kept watching this team through the lean years.

Those kinds of wounds go too deep for such quick recovery ... but some people just don't get that. ;)

Please feel free to move on if you are ready to do so, but don't tell the rest of us we need to do the same.

Each in his own time, thanks.

First off Im not telling anyone how to feel.Read the title before you make that assumption. The operative word is "can"..I didnt say we "should". You can wallow for as long as you need. I don't care. Thanks.
Wow, you took that completely wrong ... sorry I wasn't clearer in my intent. I didn't say you said should, either. TP and an apology ... it's a touchy subject for me ... as for "wallowing", harsh but realistic, I guess, if nothing else.

Apology definitely accepted and I apologize if I sounded harsh. Emotions over this topic are going to be all over the place for a long time.

Well some didnt get why Ainge made the decision and thought it was dumb...and we "can" move on. I didnt say we had to. If you dont like the delivery than that's on you, but its the reality of the situation. It's going to be difficult but the next chapter of the Celtics are starting and that's most important.

I will never forgive Danny for this.  You won't find another KG and Paul Pierce, no matter how many draft picks you have.  They are legends, and the Celtic tradition was (operative word of course) built on loyalty.  Idc how old they are, you never trade two hall of famers - ever (especially given how good they both still are).

Idk if it's some kind of inferiority complex or something with Ainge that bc he was traded, anyone can be traded, but I wouldn't want to play for a guy like that.  Yes, trading Danny was incredibly stupid, but don't take it out on players who weren't even in the league when that occurred.

I know they didn't have but more than two more years left together, but I would have loved to have seen them.  Had we drafted well, this upcoming season could have been the transition year, where we sign Oden and bring him along slowly.  It would've been perfect.  5 minute intervals as Garnett's backup to start, and then we'll see where it goes from there as he gets stronger.

What really has me ticked though, is that both the first reported trade with the clippers and the one that ultimately transpired both centered on receiving players that we either drafted and should have kept (Marshon Brooks), or guys that we should have drafted (Deandre Jordan).  To trade two icons for two players who we should have had to play with Garnett and Pierce in the first place is behind ridiculous.  I remember screaming at the tv on draft night after we had taken JR Giddens, "NO NO NO Danny!  Deandre Jordan!  Ugh."  I figured that he would've helped us athletically at the least, and he was so young.

As for Brooks, I never saw him play, but after I viewed some highlights of his best games, I thought why didn't we get this kid?  Screw Jeff Green. This dude could've been the heir apparent to Pierce.  Just imagine the results of having Paul take the kid under his wing.  It would've been awesome.  Sigh.

Unfortunately, for Kevin, Paul, and Rondo, this era can only be described this way - "Gentlemen, you have fought like lions and been led by donkeys."  What a shame.  I was happy to see Doc and his (or was it Armond Hill's?) stupid offense leave, however.  Doc's a nice guy and everybody seems to love playing for him, but I just thought he was the modern equivalent of KC Jones.  Yuck.  Even I could have done a better job (and that's really sad, trust me).

There so much here to respond to but I will pick 3 points:
1. The fact that Danny was traded has nothing to do with his ability as a GM.  This is a stretch speculation.
2.  Jeff Green is a better player than Marshon Brooks.
3. Doc is a better coach than KC Jones was.  (just my opinion)

Yikes

Get real, without Ainge we win no title and no KG or RA.     I am sure DA loses sleep over you not forgiving him, give me a break, lol.

I think this move had to happen.  I like it but I dont "like it" if you know what I mean.

I was surprised by how emotional I got listening to Pierce during the presser.  Felt like a good friend took a job far away and you know your gonna drift despite legit bonds.

I'm a Celtic fan.  I'm in this through the thick and thin.

Goodbye Pierce and Garnett.  Thanks for everything and have a great season.  Celtics under Rondo are gonna bring it best they can-youngins haha!
--------

Anyone else feel like KG was doin his best to support P during the presser.  I love those guys and I am very happy they are together.

1).  For the quote above - wow :o; yeah, that's exactly what I meant  ::).  Come on lol.
2).  Doc was better at out of timeout plays than kc I'll give you that, but at least the plays the 80s teams ran were actual plays, instead of pick and roll until we puke lol.
3).  Jeff Green is a very talented player, but he's too nice and doesn't have that killer instinct, superstar gear imo.
4).  I never said that danny trades people bc he was traded - I was merely offering it up as a theory of mine.  How would I know?

I didn't mean to cause an uproar for crying out loud.  Sorry.  Just upset.  It (the situation) never should've come to this.
