  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
We should trade Rondo to the Pistons for Drummond and Charlie V's expiring deal... then they can sign Josh Smith and roll with Rondo, Smith and Monroe.  They might even have enough to go after Dwight as well.

Yeah but if they let Calderon walk, they could have enough money to trade Charlie V for Rondo, sign Josh Smith AND sign Dwight.

Why not amnesty Charlie V?

And I want a musical wish.

I also want Rondo to start making free throws -- perhaps this way we can justify putting him on the floor together with his buddy Smith.

That's really getting annoying.
I bet you 10 TPs Rondo comes back and shoots 75% for the season.

I'll take that bet.

I'll take that bet too Vux but lets make it 20 tp's

And why would we be unloading Rondo for Charlie V?  I mean if we want to GIVE RR away for an expiring contract, I am sure that deal will be available anytime for the next 2-3 years.

Why would we do that with our biggest trade asset?  I know you don't think Rondo is worth much, and that we have absolutely no other options other than the nuclear one.  But even then, this is a horrible use of our assets.  Wait til Rondo recovers from his ACL if you want to move him.  Why in the world do you keep wanting to sell low on Rondo?

Agreed.  We could certainly get a very good player in return for Rondo.  Wouldn't surprise me if we could get Dwight Howard or DMC pretty much straight up for him.

Rondo may not be an elite scorer, but he's arguably thessecond best PG in the league after Chris Paul, and good enough to instantly turn a decent Team into a phenomenal one.  Teams know this, and they also know that elite pass-first point guards in the mould of Stockton/Kidd are incredibly rare.

Trading him for an expiring contract, is pretty ridiculous unless he return from injury, half the player he was. I don't think that will happen.

As for Smith.. I agree that you wouldn't trade Green for Smith.  The whole appeal of Smith is combining him with Rondo and Green.  I would prefer to play Smith at PF where you can make use of his rebound, his shot blocking and his ability to pass out of the post (as well as the quickness mismatch up front).

Play him at SF and you are encouraging him to jack up jumpers, which is not his greatest strength.

The way I see it Rondo and Smith are two of the best passing players at their positions, and they are both very good rebounders who run the floor extremely well.  I think they actually complement each other incredibly well...surround then with guys who can shoot (Jeff Green, Kelly Olynyk) and I think you have a very nicely balanced lineup.

People complain that josh smith isn't a go-to scorer but then we don't really need him to be.We j just need him to be a capable scorer who can put points on the board and impacts the game in a lot of other ways.. which he does.

Which HUMP does Josh Smith get us over next year exactly? The $11-15 million we'd pay him should be saved for a star. Get a star first, THEN get the Josh Smiths of the world.

You lost me there.  Why would anyone in their right mind trade Rondo for Charlie V?  Our job is not to improve other teams... Sigh.  And no, I don't think Drummond is a franchise player.

Best thing would be if someone else offered him a Max contract - not us. Then Danny will have some cover w/ Rondo and we can add a big. Olynyk / Sully are our PF's of the future. Green our SF. Need Center / SG / backup point.

Why would we do that? Why not keep Rondo and bring Smith in here? I don't want to make other teams better and make ourselves worse.

I'd love to have Josh Smith here.

For me, I would MUCH rather put a respectable team on the court for next season rather than purposely try to lose to get a high pick in 2014.

Because if tanking is the option chosen, then count this guy as someone who won't watch a single second of Celtics basketball, next year.

Green and Josh vs Lebron James? Let's also get Diaw and Leonard :)
