It does seem like a lot of people are taking this personal:

This is basically the same thing as an every day Joe looking for a better job, goes on the interview, gets an offer, lets his current employer know, current employer comes back with a small raise or something and the every day Joe stays with his current employer. Do management or fellow employees look at that every day Joe any differently, not really…  Same thing here with Doc, just on a bigger scale…I think C’s just run it back and everyone is still fine with Doc…

If by "every day Joe" you mean a guy who signed a $35 million dollar contract extension two summers ago -- making him the highest paid person in his profession -- to stick around for 5 years, and at the time professed loyalty and commitment to staying with his employer even though he knew that rough times were ahead, only to jump ship right when the seas start to get choppy, then yeah, sure, Doc's an every day Joe.

I think Doc will be back.

Media loves him fans and players love him.

It might be skeptical at first but Doc has always appeared to be a blue collar 110% guy. He will give it his all as usual.

I respectfully disagree. Not all fans love him including myself. Doc rivers is a phony and many people see that now. As for the media, they will not give him a free pass.

amen. BIGTIME phony. highest paid coach and now he wants to bail at the first sign of adversity(aka rebuild)? hit the road doc and don't ya come back.
LET'S GO CELTICS!

As I have been saying for days, this is all business. I expect Doc back because he has a contract and Danny wants him back. The players love him. The players love KG. If nothing goes down, and it looks like it won't, this will all be forgotten by the time the first practice of training camp is done, if not before.

Why fans are taking it so personal is beyond me.

The Celtics once traded OWNERS!!

Red once was almost a Knick.

Red almost pulled the trigger on trades for Bird and McHale.

Did fans suddenly turn on the Celtics for trading owners or turn on Red or Larry or McHale because they were rumored to possibly be going elsewhere?

Glad you're on this Nick!  In the age of the internet, people feel empowered to make THEMSELVES the story by imagining that it's personal, instead of letting the story unfold as a spectator...

Okay...my take anyway

I'm with you in terms of being puzzled. It has been several straight days of people making highly personal attacks, yelling in random ALL CAPS and often in something that only vaguely resembles the English language, without any basis in reality. I don't get it.

Never on this forum has so little of consequence, based on so little real information, yet using quite so many words, been said in such a short period of time.

I think Doc is taking way too much heat here.  IMO Ainge was probably more interested in moving Doc and KG to LA (Pierce too in a wink-wink buyout deal) to speed up the rebuild and approached Doc about it. Doc likely just agreed to move onto another good situation along with two players he is very close to IF the right deal could be reached.  Ainge couldn't get the right deal done and I wouldn't be surprised if they go back to the original plan which was to run it back with Doc/KG/Pierce in 2013.  If so you will find me cheering on Doc, KG, Pierce and the rest of our team!

What if Danny asked KG, Paul and Doc if they would be willing to go to LA if they could make Boston Better long term?  WHAT IF?? You have no clue.

What if Doc is really a leprechaun and his pot of gold is now in Los Angeles?

I go by what is reported by reputable sources.  Nothing that you just speculated has been suggested by anything I've read.

Exactly..it's being widely reported that he wants nothing to do with a rebuild and he wants to coach only if it's for a chance at a championship from reputable sources. In the next few days we'll know something.
