I think Doc will be back.

Media loves him fans and players love him.

It might be skeptical at first but Doc has always appeared to be a blue collar 110% guy. He will give it his all as usual.

I respectfully disagree. Not all fans love him including myself. Doc rivers is a phony and many people see that now. As for the media, they will not give him a free pass.

The Celtics and Rivers planned to reach a final resolution in the next few days, sources said.

1. I'd be shocked if Doc comes back to coach after all that happened in the last week.

2. The Celtics need to get going on a search for a new head coach if Doc Rivers isn't coming back.  The best candidates are quickly finding jobs elsewhere.

Combine those two things and I wouldn't be at all surprised if within the next day or two we see an announcement "Doc Rivers Will Not Return as Celtics Coach."  In fact, I really can't see any other way it can go at this point.

Oh well... He's ours for the next three years whether we pay him or not. Maybe not this year but sometime in the next couple a team will pay our price. I have no doubt about that.

Boston now has all the excuses in the world to tank if rivers doesn't come back and as a result pierce and kg are gone. Add in rondo injury. The organization almost can't look bad with a lottery season next year.

Nothing wrong with him quitting ,  asking to be released , doing business HONESTLY,  waiting till the proper time with ethical announcement.  Following parliamentary procedure, being on the up and up and coming clean.

He choose the LOW ROAD ....  back door politics

He went back on his word , threw the Celtics under the bus,  made claims he was burnt out ......yeah ..right ..boo hoo.....my heart bleeds for ya...  "NOT"

RIver showed his true colors ,   jumped ship,  went to bed with the first hussey that strolled along that would give him the next banner on a silver platter.   He sucks as coach, and knows it ...wanted to ride KG and PP and CP3 smarts to glory ...FREE RIDE

While still being under contract , he worked to screw the Celtics Team in trade to help out another franchise .

He made his bed with  UNDERHANDED LOSER ,   so there he should lie

He disgraced himself as a coach , mentor , and friend to many a fan.

I hope he is NEVER welcomed back ,   at least  he won't be by me.   There are better choices

Breathe. This is all baseless speculation on the character of a guy that we know next to nothing about, despite his fixture on the sidelines of the team that we follow.

Adrian Woj was on the Dan Patrick show a little while ago.

-Until the Clippers hire a coach, this is still in play.

-Boston - can Doc return and I think it will be difficult to do that. One league source said today who's connected to Doc, you can't pretend this didn't happen. He was beloved in Boston. He injured that. .... He wanted the Clippers job. Boston is saying they want him back but I think for Doc to walk into that locker room when they know he wanted to leave them, it's gonna be difficult for Doc to stay in there.

-There is damage done. I don't know if there is anything you can say. They negotiated a deal there for him. Right now, Doc is mulling it over. He probably does not coach there again next year but it's still leaving 7 million a year on the table. He does not have an appetite to rebuild.

Seriously, is there actually any evidence that any of this trade was Doc's idea?

People on these forums like to hyperventilate and accuse him of being a traitor and other idiotic nonsense like that, but what makes you think he was at all involved in any of this?

From what I understand, and from what is reported in the media, the Clippers CAME TO THE CELTICS management with this trade proposal. The Celtics considered it, and told the Clippers their terms. The Clippers didn't like those terms, and have decided to go a different route.

HOW IS ANY OF THIS DOC'S FAULT?!?!?!?!?!

It is idiotic to call Doc a traitor over this unless some sort of incontrovertible evidence comes up that he was the active agent in pursuing this trade, and it never would have been proposed without him.

As I have been saying for days, this is all business. I expect Doc back because he has a contract and Danny wants him back. The players love him. The players love KG. If nothing goes down, and it looks like it won't, this will all be forgotten by the time the first practice of training camp is done, if not before.

Why fans are taking it so personal is beyond me.

The Celtics once traded OWNERS!!

Red once was almost a Knick.

Red almost pulled the trigger on trades for Bird and McHale.

Did fans suddenly turn on the Celtics for trading owners or turn on Red or Larry or McHale because they were rumored to possibly be going elsewhere?

Yep, everything has lined up really nicely for them to have a bad year without getting a lot of blame from most fans.

A lot of that is luck -- all of the injuries they got this year, and then going down 0-3 against the Knicks even though they were good enough to extend it to 6 games, that's just luck.  Doc Rivers openly courting another team in June?  That was unexpected, but Danny Ainge may have kind of pushed things in that direction by making his intentions clear to Doc.

In any case, I think Danny sees an opportunity to hit the reset button and get a nice asset or three out of the draft next year.  So I think he's all about taking that opportunity.

Normally Danny isn't a tank guy, but when the opportunity presents itself, it seems like Danny knows that it can be valuable.  See: 06-07.

where are all the Doc apologists?

Those who said he was actually doing the Celtics a favor for coaching.

You know those who said he was burnt out and had the right to rethink a written contract every single year of that contract to date.

You know those who said he wanted to spend time with his family? Well LA is just as far if not farther from his family's residence.

You know those who said he did not need the money? Yeah right, who does not need $7 million for doing one of the greatest jobs in the world.

Is there a precedence for unlocking locked threads. If there is please maybe we can unlock the 'why is Doc acting like the Celtics he is doing the Celtics a favor?' thread. That should be fun.

I don't think Doc is back next year, also I think PP is gone, if that means KG o'well.

One thing I do not want is this same team next year. I really don't like the way they play and now that they are old it is often painful to watch.

Looking forward to seeing what Danny does, if he does nothing it may be time for him to go too.
