Why would KG retire?  Doc judiciously rested him all year for a playoff run in which the 7th seed will get to the NBA Finals for the first time in NBA history.  You don't play five minutes of each first and third quarters if you don't plan to take those incredible savings on your health and play for another five seasons. Doc is the best thing to ever happen to KG and he'll repay him by playing for five more years.

I am so glad the entire regular season was all about the noise this team was going to make in the playoffs.  Doc had it all mapped out!

I don't think I've ever seen a team that was playing badly and with a low seed rest players like Doc did towards the end of the year.  At least we've learned it wasn't hubris.

KG will retire. Pierce bought out. I do believe this will happen. Sad but it has to come to an end.

Then will Rondo want to stay?

KG is playing hurt, he is not 100%, this is obvious, yet he captured yesterday 17 rebounds, incredible. My opinion is that he can still play but reducing his playing time, especially in RS, Duncan is still playing, are similar players but Spurs roster is better than Celtics.

Garnett injured is still better than 90% of the centers in the league, but then again, he spent 18 years in the league, many kilometers, games, trips ... these players at this age are made to regulate season very long for them the example of Sheed in 2010.
I as a fan of KG did not want him to retire, but if it does it is quite respectable, but honestly output from KG Perkins has had little help in the frontcourt, this is obvious and for me a roster planning problem.

The problem is that we need to see if your foot is right or if he needs surgery, this is already different. Rondo's return may be a factor for KG not retired, but that no one knows.

Whatever happens The Big Ticket forever, the best, I want one last shot but with a roster of guarantees.

To assume anything about KG, or Pierce for that matter, at this point in time is presumptuous.  There's no way a player can truly decide what direction they wish to proceed, as it pertains to their future, when the feeling of being defeated is still so fresh.

KG will make up his mind in time, and most likely in time to allow Ainge to pursue a plan of action accordingly.

I hope he comes back, but I make no claims as to what will happen.  Anyone who does is being, again, presumptuous.

Rondo is under contract and coming off ACL surgery, he doesn't have many other options. He will stay and be the veteran on a rebuilding process. I think he will love the opportunity to be the man on the team going forward, especially if his friend Josh Smith joins him here.

i hope not.  even though he cant do what he used to offensively....he is a leader, great defender, and it has been a privilege and honor watching him play for the celts the last few yrs.  he isnt a go-to guy, but he is a great role player....the only problem is we dont have that go-to guy right now
