Unfortunately I feel he is just out of gas and it might be the right time, but I'd really like to see him stay with the organisation in some type of mentor role for the young ones instead of slipping into a quiet retirement.

I think he is. I mean the 82 games is killer for him. If he could come off the bench maybe. But idk I mean he seems to have the bone spur in his foot, and his hip is really bad. I just don't see him coming back next year. I would not be totally surprised if both he and pierce called it together. But would side that Pierce is going to play a little longer. But only time will tell.

I think his time has passed. But you guys really can't put to much stock into what Simmons and Jalen Rose are saying. That is just silly

shaq, in his book, said that kg was cooked at the end of the year in 2011 and he thought he would retire. That was 2 years ago.

We're witnessing an all time's great final game this sunday

If he's really an all time great, he shall will us to a victory and many more afterwards!

18

He's done more than enough to be an all-time great. Much respect for KG. He brought back celtics pride after the dark years of the ML Carr, Pitino, Jim Obrien eras.

Obviously he's one of the best players to ever touch a basketball, but no. He will not let the Knicks beat us next game. Just can't happen.

Personally, I think KG is a top-2 PF, ever.

I don't think anyone knows but KG. They said the same thing last year and he came back this year.
I do know that KG and Paul being 1a and 1b are way over and done with.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.

Simmons is a die hard Celtics fan, so I don't think he's trying to screw the Celtics fans or something.

There isn't much silliness about it - what's silly is how KG is playing at a high level in his late late 30s.
I like Marcus Smart

Well, KG did have 17 rebounds in just 34 minutes, so that is amazing.

It's impressive, but we certainly put up enough bricks to help with that.

I believe that he is done.  I did not see tonight's game but he appears to me to be struggling big time.  I don't think he can play a whole season and have anything left for a playoff run.

I guess the Rondo era is about to begin.

I have a bad feeling he will.

End of last season there was a lot of talk about how much pain KG plays through every day, even when healthy, just to fight through a season.

This year if he was healthy (or had a good playoff run) I would have been confident he would have returned.

Right now though he's ended the season hobbling, and the team looks positioned for a first-round-sweep exit.  I'm afraid that might be too much for KG's pride to swallow.

In the past he was on teams that were hurt by injuries and often lacked talent, but those teams all battled deep in the playoffs on pure effort, hustle and passion.  Guys like Big Baby and Nate (immature as they were) always played with passion.  As did the more serious guys like Perk, Pietrus, Marquis, Keeyon.  If there's one thing that Boston teams have never lacked it's passion.

This year though it feels different.  Very few guys on this team seem to carry that intense passion and desire to win which fueled so many of those past teams.  Bass and Courtney Lee looks emotionless.  Terry at times looks the same.  Green looks passionate at times, overly content at others.

The two other guys on this team who DID have passion (Sully, Rondo) are both on the sidelines.

I think it's one thing losing.  It's another thing losing in the first round.  It's another thing getting swept in the first round.  It's another getting swept in the first round with a group of guys who barely seem to care.

Don't get me wrong I'm sure they obviously all care, but they just don't show it when they are on the court or off it the way last years team did.  Even Pierce and KG look almost watered down compared to their attitudes of old.

All of this is wht concerns me.  If the reality is as I'm seeing it, will KG put his body through all he does for that?

  It began in 2010.

Well, Duncan is most likely going to be playing next year, when he turns 38.

"KG would be 38 and so he would be too old to play" is not a valid excuse because Duncan will be the same age.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
I hope not.

He will not. He knows that he has ONE MORE STAND next year with Rondo back.

Don't KG.
::)

Roll your eyes all you want. This is a different team with Rondo on the floor. And I believe he knows that and he will play for one more year.

KG at worse can still patrol the defense and provide mid range shots to stretch the floor. If we get some help for him so he doesnt have to be the last line of defense, it will save his energy a lot.

A 37 year old Garnett is still better than a lot of PF's in the league. And he has one more year in the contract, he can just finish that up.
