I wasn't on this site 2 years ago but it sounds like it hasn't changed a bit since we drafted Bradley.

Can't we just bring Gerald Green back?

  • Ashy To Classy, baby.
i don't know if Marshon could have beat out Pietrus, but I definitely think he could have defended D Wade better than Ray.

From what I can gather, Marshon is not anywhere near a good defender. That being said, with months of Celtic tutelage, that may have changed; just look at Bass.

But Ray is an underrated defender, and would've been adequate, minus the bone spurs.
My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.

Beware what?

People can be a fan and still think the draft was blown.   People are allowed their opinions.   Do you think Lucky is going to show up at people's houses if they don't march lock or barrel.

I do not like our 1st round picks but I hope they pan out for us.

It occurred to me I want to make something slightly more clear. I'm not saying for one second that I'm down on JJJ or Bradley. I'm also not saying that I think these other guys I mentioned are definitely better in the long term.

One of the worst things I would say about JJJ at this time is if you were the Rockets or the Nets or these other teams there is absolutely no way you feel like maybe you should have drafted JJJ over those guys.

What I am saying though is I think for the last two years we should have been in win now mode and should have drafted guys that would have been prepared to help win titles immediately. I think those other guys might have helped more.

It would be more a more successful draft to draft an ok guy that was then difference in a title than a very good guy that never helped win one. That's what I'm trying to say. I really really hope Sully and Fab are immediate contributors to a title. If we get to the finals and lose and they don't play, but other guys picked after them have good years, unless those guys lead us to a title down the road, pretty much no matter what happens I'd say it was a bad draft.

See what I mean?
I'm sorry, I don't uderstand how you draft to "win now".  Young and no experience is just that, and is not what you "win now" with.  Even the great Michael Jordan (drafted in 84 (?) didn't sniff a title until 91...then won 6.  How did that "young and ready" work for Lebron? KG and PP played for years and played well, but in vain, before they found the right fit.   You generally  have to pay your dues against the best before you can win a title.  Just my opinion...
So I guess when Danny said "We need to draft guys ready to make an immediate impact and help right away" you were like "But that's impossible!"

I think some players are more ready to contribute right away. Ryan Gomes was ready to help right away. But he slipped deep into the second round. Lots of times players ready to help immediately are passed over for guys GMs think have more long term potential. I don't think the Celts should be doing that right now if that's what they're doing. I think they should be drafting the guys they think will help the most the fastest. It's a balance for sure, but I lean heavily towards immediate help
