I would trade Dooling for a list of teams we could send him to. Figure that one out.

I think we should bump the "what should we trade Dooling for?" thread again. He only got 4 minutes last game, but that was five minutes too much. My blood boils.

how much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck was chris bosh?

How about getting into this deal by replacing the Hornets and giving up JO and Dooling for Farmar and Petro, freeing up $7m in cap space for the Nets.  We could throw in more of our scrubvets if we want to take on Shawne Williams $2,5m next year.

Farmar and Petro add $7.5m to the payroll next year, assuming that Farmar doesn't opt out of his $4m.  Shawne Williams has the same opportunity to walk from $3.1m  If the Cs want to buy their bench now, and grab a first round pick, they could make this move with JO, Wilcox and Dooling, and have those three guys coming off the bench next year.  Then the Cs can then re-up KG and Ray for reasonable money and keep the window slightly open.
that's not building a quality bench though.  it's just loading up on scrubs that shouldn't be on the roster.

How is that desperate? Trading the worst player on the team for a 26 year old 7 Footer... that falls under the no brainer area for me.

you're really that happy to seal the deal for D Will and D Howard playing together next year in our division so we can win no more games this year? not me.....

I would call a guy shooting 45% on 3's and almost 90% at the line a scrub.  Farmar also has over a +10 Efficiency Rating.  I stated in an earlier post about Farmar's amazing long range shooting ritual in warmups prior to seeing Deron drop 57 on the Bobcats.  I bet he hit 80% of his shots.

He has obviously dedicated himself to improving his shooting and it is paying dividends this year.

Petro looked like a decent and mobile big man to me.  Nothing great, but I would love to get Farmar and we would probably have to take Petro to get him.

Farmar, Petro and Shawne Williams are not too different than the vets DA has compiled for the team's bench this year.  Actually, I like Petro better than Wilcox, who can't stay on the court.  Farmar would be the best backup PG the Cs have had in the KG era, and Shawne Williams has a ton of talent, and could benefit from being Ray Allen's understudy.

The Cs get a first round pick out of it in a deep draft, and now would have the ability to trade three number one picks to a team with a high draft pick this year that needs quality depth out of this draft instead of just one good player.

Ainge will never make a trade to take more 2012-13 salary off NJ's books. Never.

If some sort of Petro/Farmar for Diaw deal is going to go down with or without Boston's involvement, why not try to get some value out of it?  The only question is whether or not there is sufficient value to make it a good idea.

See my note above. It's simply not going to happen.

If it is effectively NJ trading Petro/Farmar for Diaw, then Charlotte flipping Petro for Dooling and that second deal having no bearing on whether or not the first deal gets made, then Ainge is doing nothing to help New Jersey clear future cap space.  So it doesn't matter if the Nets benefit.
