The last thing i want is Big 3 blow last chance because team's pg pass open shots, are affraid to get fouled cause he's lousy free throw shooter and allows teams to clog the lane like Lakers did. If Kobe played that way vs Nash, Steve would score 35 points easily. Steve is one of the greatest basketball minds and would gel with Big 3 by the time playoff starts. And Gortat is simply better player then Perk. Not so good defensivly, but miles ahead on offense.

Not a bad idea.

Rajon Rondo's on ball defense is not extraordinary(very very good though), and like a lot of people say, he gambles far too much. Even if Nash's opponent blows by him, it's like Rondo's situation where he goes for the steal and lets his opposing PG go right past him.

PLUS we get a legit big man that already has chemistry with Nash. I'm sure Nash would LOVE to play with the Big 3.

I don't understand how this makes us so much older...

If anything, this trade would drastically improve our half-court offense, something we need.

We free up even MORE cap space for next year, which would always help. The 11m of Nash expiring is pretty much Rondo's contract. We can use that portion to resign the Big 3/other players, but still have ample space because we don't have to use what we had before on resigning Allen, KG, etc.

We'd be saving about $3.7 million of Rondo's contract next year, which is the difference between what Rondo and Gortat make.  We wouldn't save his entire contract.

As a move for the future, the question is; is Gortat and $3.7 million in cap space worth more than Rondo and two first round picks?  Personally, I don't think so.

As far as for the present, I don't think this move makes us more of a contender this year.
