Gortat+Nash 4 Rondo+JO+Picks

Celtics get a real Center in Gortat. The best passing Point Guard in the NBA shooting, and a lights out Shooters in Steve Nash. Steve is a little long in the tooth but he is playing at a high level.

Suns finally #FreeNash to a contender. They get a nice young piece in Rondo to build a team around. And some picks.

This team has one thing that it does at an elite level: defend. It seems like a terrible idea to give up that strength by trading for a guy who can't defend.

No let me state that I am a HUGE RONDO fan and that I would personally love for him to stay with this team. I will say that this trade would probably be the only one I would do right now though

Nash,Gortat,Hill

For

Rondo.JO,Pavs,and our 1st round pick

Reason being is that you still have a pass first PG and can create a shot. A center who is athletic and boxes out. and a SF who could backup Pierce and have Piertus play the 2.. Also Steve Nash contract ends along with Hill after the season. Gives us cap to go after Dwight and Deron Williams..

Again If it came down to it and we keep Rondo I am a huge supporter of him, just want to see what people say about this.

That's very nicely and concisely put.  Tommy point.

Gotta love a trade where we give up the best player *and* draft picks. Maybe Wyc could throw in a ton of cash, and we could give them a few years worth of merchandise revenue as well.

Does that give us a good shot at the title this year? Hell yeahwho cares how old nash is is rondo really going to do much for.this.team past this year anyway.

Hes a good pg top 5-10 do we really need to be sentimental when clearly this trade would give us 2 huge needs?

Not to mention as soon as rondo went out we wete propelled into one of the top defensive teams

  • Rondo = Good
Using the search function and adding to existing posts instead of creating new ones to rehash subject matter that's been discussed ad nauseum in the past is just good forum etiquette.

Just fyi.  :)

Is Rondo really playing better than Nash so far this season? Seems like Nash is having a heck of a year.

It's pretty easy to have a heck of a year when you're only playing on one end of the court.

I'd say if you want to bring a player like los Nash to Boston...Make it a 3-way trade.  Send Rivers to either the Knicks or Suns and bring D'Antoni to Boston....Then you have the perfect offensive juggernaut philosophy with an NFL pro bowl defensive philosophy to complement the worst defensive player in the NBA.

I actually approve of this trade.

It's essentially young Rondo for young Gortat

THEN

OLD O'Neal for old Nash.

Cut down on Nash's minutes with Bradley so that the defense doesn't suffer as much, then with Nash closing out games the C's could be unstoppable.

Gortat would be a massive upgrade at center. And Nash is a far better offensive player than Rondo. You'd just have to protect him on defense, but the Boston system is built to do that.

This definitely improves the C's this season.
