Anything that helps you break the habit and has a lessened negative affect on your health is to be applauded ... keep up the good work!
I smoked a pack-a-day for 37 years, and tried to quit in many different ways, at many different times. I finally succeeded "cold turkey".
Why the difference and success? I really
wanted to quit ... deep down. When I had the urge, I just plain
didn't act on it, and I eventually no longer had the urge.
I loved smoking and still miss it at times, and if it didn't smell so bad or have such deleterious affects on the body, I'd probably start up again.
Anyway, I personally needed to get to the point where my desire
not to smoke was greater than my desire
to smoke, and it was just plain easy.
The other times at which I tried to stop, I was doing so for other people or doing so because I felt I needed to, yet deep-down I still
wanted it ... that was the secret for me, and I realize it's not the norm.
I'm not saying anyone should wait until they
maybe get to the same point, because many never
would, but that's what finally worked for me. I'm at five years and crossing my fingers for the ten-year lung cancer rule.
Here's hoping.
