It sure would be nice if Baby was a better jumpshooter.  Right now when he is out there with Rondo we have the exact same problem we used to have with Perk, the whole defense just sags so it makes getting to the paint very difficult.  If the team isn't hitting outside shots, it's tough to score.

I still say Baby is a winner, though.  As long as he doesn't have to play big minutes.  As a 20-25 minute a game player, he is very good.

Screw the shooting selection, Baby on the floor with starters has destroyed C's fastbreak abilities for his half court game. Blocking shots, rebounding, and outlet passes lead to fastbreak easy offense. Baby doesn't rebound the ball cleanly or block shots enough to support any of this. Fans are focusing way too much on Baby's shooting, and not how it takes away from Ray Allen through misdirection plays or lack of transition. I just think we aren't seeing the whole problem(s).

We really don't have an alternative.  At the end of games Glen gets clutch rebounds and usually makes clutch plays that Jeff Green would not.  Jeff Green needs to start rebounding if Doc is going to trust him at the end of games.

This is exactly it.  People were confused why our offense suddenly suffered after the trade, and the reality is that the biggest reason is our lack of D & Rebounding.

The opposing team typically crashes the boards a bit, so when we secure a defensive rebound and quickly outlet to Rondo he is able to push the ball and have numbers on a fast break.  Or when we block a shot too.  But Glen is a poor defensive rebounder and provides zero resistance near the rim to anyone driving to the hoop.  People have caught on that he's seeking a charge now, so they just stop short of the hoop and shoot a 2 foot jumper over him.

This is absolutely correct.  Trading away players that had hardly played all season is the cause. :-\

Rebounding is largely energy and effort, and this team often does not play with as much energy and effort as their opponent, especially if the opponent is considered "inferiour," and then suddenly Za Za looks like David Lee.

We used to have Shaq, then we had Perkins.  Recently we've had neither.  Both of those players not only provide interior presence against penetration, but also defensively rebound & outlet the ball quickly.

I haven't been always been happy with Baby lately; however, he's been forced into a role likely too big for him.

Let's see what happens when we have all 3 centers and perhaps even more confidence in Jeff Green.  At that point, we could see far less of Baby.

I, for one, would love to see Jermaine O'Neal take Baby's closer role from him.  Jermaine really is an ideal fit as he can hit a midrange jumper, post up, play defense, block shots, and get this, hit free throws (career 71% shooter; however, over the latter half of his career, he's hit between 75-80% most seasons).

Baby with the first unit, we have the 2nd best adjusted (+/-) behind Shaq with the 1st unit.

1st unit = Big 4

Davis with 1st unit is also one of our best defensive rated 5 man unit.

Nice stat, sure puts Baby in a positive light..oh but wait he just allowed yet another offensive rebound and maybe that is why his unit never overtook a little seen unit with Shaq. Second chance points just overshadowed that stat. Due to the minutes logged by Baby and the Big 4, kinda sad to be 2nd still to little seen Shaq unit. That isn't a plus due to hardly any other player getting nearly the same time with the 1st unit.

One thing I like about Baby is he doesn't get hurt every two minutes. Except when kickboxing drunk, but I think he learned his lesson

  • Another undersized Celtic...
I'm just glad he wasn't shooting like an uzi tonight, spraying his shots into the crowd and everywhere but the hoop. It was nice to see him think about a shot, look around first, then make a pass. It's like we watched our Baby take his first step!
