After seeing how good Powe was tonight I'd much rather us have gotten him back than Murphy.

Albeit tonight could have just been a great game for him with many no shows before... Idk I don't see the Grizzlies play very much or look up their stats.

I think it is very easy to come to the conclusion that Powe would be a better signing just after tonight. But dig deeper. Powe provides the same attributes that Big Baby brings, except with a smaller body. I'd prefer Big Baby and the Murphy's floor stretching abilities.

I haven't watched Powe lately, but after what I saw tonight and know of him from when he was a Celtic Powe would greatly help us with our rebounding, scoring downlow, and toughness which we are extremely lacking in all three.

I love Baby (Thought we made the right decisdion keeping him over Powe and had him as an untouchable to get traded this offseason... well I had Perk on that list too  :P),  but his low post scoring IMO is not as good as Powe's and he doesn't provide the defensive rebounding and toughness that Powe does.

I definitely agree with you but there is simply no minutes for Powe if he comes to Boston. We can't sit Baby. To me, we can only have one or the other. Danny made the decision to keep Baby and I think his strengths outweigh those of Powe's.

Powe would have taken Murphy's minutes.  Guy hasn't brough anything useful to the table for us.  We need toughness down their with Shaq out and Perk in OKC.  Powe would have brought that.

Absolutely. TP Mike. All i could think tonight was '... dang. He could be busting his hump and contributing for us instead of Murphy warming the pine.'

The main reason to prefer Murphy to Powe is that he is a 6'11" guy who can play both center and power forward, while Powe has only one position, where he is undersized.  With Murphy instead of Powe, the Celtics have less of a temptation to try to rush either O'Neal back and to keep down their minutes if/when they do come back.

I also suspect that Ainge thought there was a chance that Murphy could play well enough to be worth a roster spot for next season with some potential for improvement by getting into better playing shape, but not so well that the Celtics would be guaranteed unable to afford him.

Watching Powe bust his hump last night really makes me miss him. That was vintage Powe (circa 2008). I understand the decision Danny made when he let him go, just as I *think* I understand the decision to trade Perkins. It still hurt losing him, however, because like Perk,  Powe became a favorite son with his great focus and work ethic. Plus, it is hard not to like a guy who has overcome such great adversity. If Baby leaves next year, I hope we can get Powe back.

LAst nights game was close despite some poor execution on the last attempts.  With Perk we'd won last nights game hands down. We got destroyed inside again. No defense. No enforcers inside , rebounding.

I can only hope Jo and Shaq make up some of this missing "D" .

I watched Howard last night dominate the Knicks inside. He is a one man wrecking crew playing a POS team. Such as waste.

Danny and Boston get out your checkbook ,if you want to win it all again or do we want watch LA hang up another 5 with Howard one day and think "ONLY IF"

I understand why we went after Murphy instead, but we really miss Powe's toughness right now.  We traded Perk for two talented but physically soft guys.  I was missing Leon last night.  Actually I was missing Tony's toughness also (but not his airballs!)

I love Leon's attitude and game!  But smart business decision due to injuries to let him go.  I hope he has a long productive career and makes good $$ , he deserves it compaired to a lot of guys out there.

Really?  Or we'd have lost by a bigger margin thanks to increased turnovers at the Center spot.

Actually Krstic had two 3 seconds violations and two other turnovers. It's like he wanted us to get nostalgic about Perk ;)

Except he didnt' get a single rebound last night.

Powe's rebounding isn't anywhere close to what it was. He does still have his knack for scoring.
