If we do win, I hope we vote him a playoff share and send him a ring.
Would be a nice sentiment, but the nice gesture would also seem like a slap in the face depending on the perspective you want to give it. Best thing to do is recognize that it was sad to win it without him, to wish he was here with them, and leave it at that.
Yeah, I could possibly see that. Perk only played 12 games all season... I don't know how that makes him deserve a ring.
I can see how Nomar got his (he's only player I can recall this happening with). He was the face of the Red Sox for several years, played over half the season, and the Sox won an incredibly dramatic first title in 86 years, so Nomar was never part of one before that.
On the other hand, Perk played 12 games, has never been better than our 5th most important player, and already got a ring for when he won a title with us.

I've been arguing this a lot, but I'm just not that much of a Perk apologist. The man turned down 4 years, $22 million to play here, yet I bet c-bloggers would argue that he'd take a bullet for this team. Yes, it was under market value. But, I'm a teacher. If I REALLY cared about a school I taught at, was truly happy there (like you all swear that Perk was), and they offered me $125,000 salary, I would take it even if I thought I could make $180,000 in say Minnesota. Why? Because $125,000 per year is a lot of money and more money can't buy happiness. Perk turned down even more and chose $$$ over staying here to be happy and secure a ring. I don't think he deserves a ring.
