I can at least understand his thinking for the Perk trade even though I don't agree with it.  You don't trade a bid to the championship because your fifth best player MIGHT leave that off-season.

Shipping out Daniels and Erden makes no sense at all, though

it will make sense in about a week or two
Or Danny will look extremely stupid.

I doubt it
So Danny knows exactly who will be bought out and where they will sign?

Most likely
just as some knew Deron heads NJ
and Baron heads Cle
or Perk heads okc
Once a CrotorNat always a CROTORNAT  2 times CB draft Champion 2009-2012

Nice to be back!

Therefore I 100% believe when the playoff comes, Shaq and JO will be there to help us. JO is not 100%, nor do we need him to be. He just needs to play defense for us

Shaq better be as close to 100% by then as he can be. Because JO is done. And I'm talking all the way done. And even if he plays he'll not be in great shape and won't have any time under his belt with the team.

I don't think JO is done. I don't think Doc, Danny, or the team think that. I think he's doing everything he possibly can to be as healthy as he can come playoffs, even if that means sitting out until then. Will he be a huge contributor for us in the post season? Maybe not. But can he give us 15 good minutes a night? maybe.
That's a big maybe. And let's be honest, Doc and Danny don't always tell the truth when it comes to peoples health.  As far as I can tell JO is done until he proves me wrong.

Actions speak louder than words.  I don't think they make this trade if they think JO is done.
Say he isn't done. Say he can come off the bench and give us a few minutes a game. Well, probably more then just a few with the way Shaq is in foul trouble all the time.....

What can he give us? He's old and won't have what's left of his game legs because he's not played all year! The guy hasn't missed a few games. He's missed a year of ball.

That and he's not played enough with our guys to get to know them and how to play with them all that much. I don't see what he can give us other then some fouls.

When on the court he's a very good defender. Even earlier this year when he was playing injured, he was still a very good defender. And he used to be really good on offense, this year he looked terrible, but even as recently as last year, he was an above average offensive center to go with a well above average defensive center.

Again, we don't know what we're gonna get out of JO, but if he's on the floor, he'll contribute at least on the defensive side. And I don't think Danny makes this trade unless he felt JO would be on the court.

Well, when he played earlier this season he gave us very solid defense, and (once he got his rhythm back after a few games) solid offense.  And He was playing injured at that point, and should be more healthy now that he has had surgery.

So, basically, I think he should be able to give something similar to what he gave Miami last year (before his ankle injury).  The numbers won't be as big because he won't be asked to do as much and play as many minutes, but I think he is still a plus defender, plus rebounder, and solid offensive player who can hit the midrange jumper and post up a bit.

Also, he is not that old.  He is 31.  Yes, his knees are in bad shape, and he is never going to be what he was 5 years ago.  But with a freshly cleaned out knee, and several months of rest, he should be in good shape to help out, and is projected to be back a month before the playoffs to get his timing back.

I don't know why everyone is praying for J.O to be healthy, even if he is, we will only get 8-10 quality minutes from the guy. Like I said, Shaq/Kristic/Davis/Perk will hold up just fine. No other team in the East is going to bang us down low and really make us regret that deal.

Why do you say that?  I think if he is healthy, he will get 15-20 minutes per game.

Conversely we have another solid wing defender for Melo, LeBron and Kobe.

Plus otherwise what would be all complaining about today? We'd actually have to be doing our jobs and working (shudders)

I second that. There will be a lot of people on this blog that will conveniently forget how they ripped Danny when he made this team better. Everyone is acting like a scorned lover--Ainge didn't break up your marriage, he traded Perk. Get over it.

I have not seen or paid attention really but Green guarding LeBron, is he capable of that? the kid is a twig

Haha, that was a typo, my bad. And, the reason why I say that is because I think against every Eastern Conference team, we don't need to really have a guy like J.O go 15-20 minutes, although it would be nice. No other team in the East can take advantage of our size, so I don't know why you guys are praying for J.O to be healthy. Sure it would be nice, but do we REALLY need him to the point where if we don't have him we're done? No way. Not in my mind.

He isn't a twig, he's strong enough to play the 4. He spent his entire college career there at Georgetown, back when they were making the tournament and resurging. He'll be an even better defender at the 3 with  7+ ft wingspan and the quickness to stay in front of LeBron. He's also the same height as him. Offensively he can play face up, has range and is also really good with his back to  the basket (again, he was the starting PF @ G'town) and is an underrated passer. I really think he will flourish in this offensive system where guys move the ball a lot to find the best shot.
