Realistically, I don't think we have a shot at Battier, even though, like everyone else on this board, I think he'd be a perfect fit here.
This trade
http://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecker/saved_trade/5839782 might work for both teams.
Boston gets: Courtney Lee and Jared Jeffries
Houston gets: Nate, Bradley and Daniels (bought out, back to us)
Houston with Kevin Martin and TWill are pretty stocked at the 2 spot.Consequently, Lee hasn't gotten much burn, and his value is probably at an all time low. For us, he'd be a more than adequate backup for Ray, providing decent scoring and excellent D. Jeffries, earlier in the year was pushing for a buyout to return to the Knicks, but it didn't work out. He's a decent defender at the 3 and 4, but with no O, and he's a good sized expiring.
Houston gets Nate, which facilitates their trade of Brooks for value and need. Bradley is for the future, which is mostly what Houston is about now. It's like giving them a first round pick. Daniels gets bought out and comes back to us/retires.
Again, this isn't getting Battier, but getting a solid player like Lee and someone like Jefries with length who can give both PP and KG rest who expires, I think might be worth it.
