Realistically, I don't think we have a shot at Battier, even though, like everyone else on this board, I think he'd be a perfect fit here.

This trade http://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecker/saved_trade/5839782 might work for both teams.

Boston gets: Courtney Lee and Jared Jeffries

Houston gets: Nate, Bradley and Daniels (bought out, back to us)

Houston with Kevin Martin and TWill are pretty stocked at the 2 spot.Consequently, Lee hasn't gotten much burn, and his value is probably at an all time low. For us, he'd be a more than adequate backup for Ray, providing decent scoring and excellent D. Jeffries, earlier in the year was pushing for a buyout to return to the Knicks, but it didn't work out. He's a decent defender at the 3 and 4, but with no O, and he's a good sized expiring.

Houston gets Nate, which facilitates their trade of Brooks for value and need. Bradley is for the future, which is mostly what Houston is about now. It's like giving them a first round pick. Daniels gets bought out and comes back to us/retires.

Again, this isn't getting Battier, but getting a solid player like Lee and someone like Jefries with length who can give both PP and KG rest who expires, I think might be worth it.

A few concerns:
1. Twill is listed as a SF and even if he does play SG he already plays less minutes than Lee. However you are correct they seem to be going to a 3 guard rotation of Brooks, Lowry, and Martin.
2. It doesn't really solve Houston's C problem. I think they will want Semih.

However I really like Courtney Lee, I think he is a really good shooter and would fit perfectly as Ray's backup.

problem here: the rockets have zero use for either bradley or nate.

Nate gives them the flexibility to trade either Brooks or Lowry packaged with another asset to fill a position of need. They will not keep both because they are redundant and too valuable not to cash in.

Bradley is like giving them a first round draft pick for the future at the guard spot to play good D with big upside. Even though they are still hoping to make the playoffs, they are really about the future now without Yao.

I'd be only going for Battier, they need a center, we have a young guy who has proven himself to at the least be a quality backup next year or year after, throw Nate in maybe a draft pick and see what happens.

Nice spin. Good luck selling Morey on that.

The ONLY realistic player I would be willing to part with Semih for would be Battier.

I love Semih and he is a bigtime trade chip, as he is certainly more skilled than most young bigs in the NBA right now. Sure, he is still rough around the edges but he is going to be an excellent rotational player in this league.

I would prefer to trade Nate, AB and Quis for a couple of young pieces that can help us as reserves. I do love Courtney Lee. I would love to get him, but not if it cost us Semih.

How is giving hem Bradley like giving them the #1 pick. He currently has yet to contribute at an NBA level. I'm not saying he won't but it is VERY risky gambling that Avery Bradley will be the future stud 2 guard for the Rockets. I would say it is more like giving them a 1st round pick.
