I don't think that Von Wafer is an NBA SF either.  I'm not sure if the Celtics sign him if Delonte West had become available earlier.

Mario West might be the better choice, as he actually has an NBA track record of playing non-garbage minutes for Atlanta (albeit really weird minutes).  He's like a poor man's Tony Allen, inferior to TA on both offense and defense, but he is a capable defender.

Of course, West is pretty much to Atlanta what Lasme could be for Boston: a hometown hero who gets by based on defensive ability and effort.

I don't think Von Wafer is an answer either.  I think he has a chance of sticking around for the beginning of the season only to be waived or stuck into a trade to make money match (while the other team then waives him for a little cap saving)

I don't think the  Celtics have their 15th man in their camp right now.

I agree.  Something could still "click" with him, but so far, he has just looked like he doesn't belong.

The West suspension and Bradley injury definitely complicated things, but I feel pretty confident no one from the current group of possible 15th men (West, Wafer, Lasme) will be with this team beyond december (when most contracts become guaranteed I believe).

One thing that probably isnt helping Wafer's chances are his two technical fouls in the first two preseason games of the season... Although on second thought, it does make him fit right in so maybe Doc sees him as a little more appealing.

I hope all of the Lasme naysayers end up with egg on their face when the final 15 man roster is announced.
Why would the roster cut leave "egg" on people's faces?

Lasme would have to produce at the NBA level to do that. So far I haven't been impressed. The other canidates for the 15th slot have been equally blah....

I'm begining to think we'll just have 14.

You must have missed what Lasme has been doing if you have not been impressed. He has FAR outplayed West, Wafer and Harangody. It's not even close. Does that mean he will make the roster -- no -- but he certainly deserves a real close look the rest of the preseason. As for egg on the face, I am talking about all of those who continue to talk down Lasme's abilities as a player. I watched him for four
years at UMass and saw his improvement. He can play the game.
I've watched the pre season, and he hasn't impressed me. He hasn't shown me that he's a good rebounder and he also hasn't shown any sort of offensive game.

He's a binkie of yours, that's cool. But he's not lighting it up by any measure.

He's no binkie of mine that's for sure. But I don't see how you can't be impressed by this kid fafnir. He certainly has done a lot with little minutes. His putbacks and play down low have shown me he's the junkyard dog type. Scrappy and willing to do the dirty work down low.

Obviously he won't light it up but he's never gonna featured in this offense. Or ever have a play run for him. But I do think he's shown flashes in the little time he's been in. He's certainly been the best reserve out of the players fighting for the last spot. And he went to Umass. He's a Leon powe type at the sf spot. This team needs that as far as I'm
concerned.

His mobility on defense is what will get him playing time. He just needs to show the will to D up the sf spot and take that challenge everytime. Be it in practice or the game. This is all yet to be seen obviously. But his speed and body speak for themselves. He needs to utilize those tools to his advantage and he will make this team. And rightfully so I might add.
