I still prefer to trade Perkins in a a deal with Sheed for Okafor. Maybe NO would do that deal.

Okafor is healthy, and is a better match with Rondo going forard post-Big 3. Okafor is also a high character guy, good rebounder and shot blocker. I think Clifford Ray would do wonders for his game.

Okafor has had his share of injuries early on... His contract is terrible: 2010-2011: 11.5 mil, 11-12: 12.5, 12-13: 13.5 and 13-14, 14.5.

For a guy that only averages 10ppg and 9rpg while playing mediocre defense for a bad hornets team. To add to that, hes a terrible passer, horrible free throw shooter, and is almost at 2 to's per game... He doesnt foul much which is a plus but he didnt even hit 30 minutes a game last year as a starter with Aaron Gray backing him up... I'll take Perk over Okafor, especially with the contract and how it fits into our overall plans.

Yeah.  While I'm all about sacrificing the future to win number 18 now, there's a pretty good chance Perk can contribute by the playoffs, even if for his usual minutes.  If that is the case, it's not worth taking on that horrible deal when we can just play KG and JO 32 mpg and have Perk and BBD split what's left.

And when you factor in that we might nab Shaq, it really becomes pointless to take on Okafor.

It would be fiscally irresponsible to offer Perkins any money until he is further along in his recovery.  At this point, it would be horrible to assume that Perk will be a foundational building block to a post-Big Three championship contender.  If you have visions of Rondo leading a running offense in the future, a Perk who has lost a step will be to that team what Shaq was in Phoenix.
