So it looks like the big loser of free agency seem to be the New Jersey Nets, who have tons of cap space and will end up with ... nobody? Richard Jefferson and Carlos Boozer?

Hee, hee. I like it. And the Knicks are still not going anywhere. :)

Miami with bosh and Wade is not a contender for the championship. I am glad the elite free agents are not all together. I guess individual wealth and egos trump the desire for a championship in most cases.....no news there.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I think it is Chicago.  When Bosh refused to go to CLeveland that meant Wade could stay in Miami with Bosh.  Had Bosh gone to Cleveland, Wade would have gone to Chicago.

The media sure hyped up the Bulls and they are going to come away with nothing.  The Knicks did it right, knowing they had an outside chance, they want after the fourth best player right away and locked him up.

It came down to a competition between LeBron and Wade for Bosh, and apparently Wade won that one, so you have to wonder who will be the big man to team up with LeBron.  The logical answer is Amare in NYK.  That said, I think staying in Cleveland still should be enticing but who else do they sign?  Boozer perhaps?  Would he actually go back there after the way it ended before?

Wade&Bosh will team up in Miami

Overall, I think this is relatively good for the Celtics. Those two on the Bulls were a worst case scenario.

The Heat got better, but are they contenders? I don't believe so. Their third best player is a PF too, so they probably need to move Beasley now.

I guess wherever Lebron goes will be the contender with Boston and Orlando. As a New Yorker and NBA fan, I would like him come to the Knicks, great for the city and the league. We will know in about 38 hours.

As someone who lives in New York, but doesn't consider himself a New Yorker, I'd prefer seeing LBJ go to the Nets over the Knicks.  I think that'd be a great move for LBJ, the NBA, Brooklyn, and of course the Cs (ie: much better than if LBJ stays in Cleveland or goes to Chicago).

Well, I think he'd be a lock for Brooklyn....if they were in Brooklyn.

The Nets messed up, for whatever the reasons may be, I haven't really kept up with it. The area they are building the new arena needs a lot more than just an arena, so their was a lot of red tape, but regardless, LeBron does not want to play in Newark (better than East Rutherford, but that's not saying much) for 2 seasons.

I could see him giving Cleveland one last chance, opt out after 3 years (either he wins a championship for them or he gives up) and then go to Brooklyn.

I think the Nets are a better option than just about every team other than the Knicks, because they really mean more to the NBA than every other team sans the Lakers and Celtics, and if they create a dynasty they may be even more valuable.

Madison Square Garden has begun a nearly $800 million dollar multi-year renovation project.

And from a C's perspective, I think the Nets would be more dangerous with Harris, Lee, and Lopez in addition to some other FA (Boozer?) than just LeBron and STAT in NYC. Both would be contenders, but the Knicks would be a better matchup for us.

After seeing this, I hope Lebron goes to Chicago.  For the good of the game, not because it works out for the Cs.

I'm not sure what to think for the C's now.  If they can still get some free agents and trades that they need it would be nice, but I'm afraid that the guys we need (Ray, Shaq, Haywood) are going to Miami or Chicago for reasonable money instead the vet minimums.

Now Ray has a lot of options, as does Shaq.  If Lebron goes to Chicago then free agent centers will go there.  If he stays in Cleveland you will see Shaq go back there.

I see Haywood going to Miami or staying in Dallas.

I just don't want to be stuck with Kwame Brown and actually be happy that we even ended up with him.

These next few weeks of teams signing role players will be the key to who contends and who doesn't next year, including the Celtics.

Best case scenario might actually be Lebron to Miami, that would eat up all the cap space and all the role players would need to settle for the minimum.  At least we could outbid the Heat for a few guys.

The Heat will need shooters. I see them making a strong push for Allen, and I can see him accepting. I think Shaq probably returns to Miami as well.

Miami should try to sign Brendan Haywood and sign and trade Beasley for Mike Miller.

That would give them a tough foursome to build around over the next 4-5 years.

Good balance, two top scorers with an inside-outside combo, defensive presence in the paint, and a big shooter on the wing.

Bosh joining Wade is one of the bigger FA signings in the last 10 years.

The Bulls just didn't look like they mortgaged their whole season for free agency. Yes, they moved Hinrich to open some cap space, but he seemed to be redundant in Chicago anyhow. They might strike out on Wade, Bosh, and LeBron, but with a couple of good rather then great players they can still be in a good shape for the coming season.

The Nets, on the other hand, have no players, and may be forced to overpay and over-rely on someone who is not a franchise player. And the whole Jay-Z charade didn't help either.

Yep, they dumped an overpayed backup PG.

They can still sign a Boozer or Lee to pair with Noah.  Then offer just above the MLE for a Reddick or Marrow to be their SG/outside shooter.
