76'ers willing to trade # 2 overall pick to get rid of Elton Brand (rumor)

I feel kinda sad for him if they're really willing to give up the #2 pick to get rid of him. Even worse if they offer and no one bites. I can't imagine anyone will. He does have 80 million reasons to cheer him up so I guess I can't feel too bad.

I know the Sixers want to move Brand, but I can't see them sacrificing the #2 pick to do it.  If they move Brand and the #2, they'll require talent in return.

I'm probably one of the few fans that actually believes that Brand has a lot left in the tank, although he does need to get in better shape.

I'm with you on Brand. I just don't think he was a ever a good fit on that team. That team is structured to run and has no shooters to create spacing for Brand to go to work inside. If you put him on our team, surrounding him with our shooters, I think we could see his game return to it's LAC days.

Honest opinion from you guys...

How would you compare Brand to Rasheed Wallace?  (not the "ideal" Brand, but the one currently as is). 

THAT'S what would scare me...  I don't think Brand is as lazy as 'Sheed, but I don't think he's going to be able to give you as much as 'Sheed on any given night.  That's a LOT of money for a guy who just can't get it done any longer, and is an injury away from being lost for lengthy periods of time.

Brand isn't as bad as he appears to be. He was a terrible fit for that team to begin with. If they were actually willing to give up the #2 pick to get rid of his contract I would be all over that. Not sure what I would give up though.

The reason this smells funny is because I am not sure how it makes the Sixers better. Even if they got nothing in return, it would only get them $4 million under the cap.

If they were any kind of team, they would try this next season with a worse lottery pick and a more palatable 2 years left on Brand's contract.

Speights, Holiday and Turner would all be on rookie deals, to go with Iggy, Williams (all under 25 years old) and about $25 million in cap space for:

Durant, Anthony, Yao, Hortford, Noah, Perkins, Chandler, M. Gasol, Randolph

I don't believe this report for one second...  There is NO WAY they are handing away the second pick, especially with a talent like Turner available (or Wall, if the Buzzards pass on him).

Agreed -- willing to trade the pick + Brand for an All-NBA talent? Yeah, I can see that but the way that report was written they made it sound like they would part with the pick for cap flexibility (to get out of Brand's contract). No way that is true.

Can we not label a kid who has never seen the floor for an NBA can, an "All-NBA" talent?

Michael Beasley was an "All-NBA" talent. We all see how that one has turned out so far.

Michael Beasley was an "All-NBA" talent. We all see how that one has turned out so far.

"All-NBA Talent" means exactly that, a kid that has the talent to be one of the best in the NBA. It doesn't mean he's going to be... it means he has the potential.
