Well it's about time he got hurt.  The C's, who are apparently "old," have been hit by the injury bug all year.  Shaq is much older and in much worse shape in a much bigger body.  He should be getting hurt.  I'm only surprised that it was in a relatively freak accident.
That is the benefit of not jumping.

I think this injury will level the playing field between Boston, Cleveland and Orlando.

The lack of time to develop quality chemistry could and likely will be very damaging for the Cavs.

The race for the Eastern Conference is wide open again.

I think this is bad for the Cavs, not necessarily for the remainder of the regular season (although it screws up their depth a bit) but for the first couple rounds of the playoffs when they're trying to work a rusty and possibly even heavier Shaq back into the team.

Shaq is maybe the single most difficult player in the league to work into your rotations on the fly, especially these days.  Add the fact that they'll have to work Big Z back in a few weeks before that and there could be some serious chemistry problems down the line.

It's not about being classy.  I'm not personally happy that he's personally hurt; however, for the sake of equity, I think it's about time this has happened.

All we as Celtic fans have been told all season is "when you build your team with older players, you have to live with the risk of injuries."  However, we're not the only contending team with older players.

While LeBron is young, Shaq will be 38 in 5 days, is overweight and generally unnaturally large.  Big Z, when he comes back, is nearly 35 and playing on feet that have had multiple reconstructive surgeries, Antawn Jamison is almost 34, and Anthony Parker is almost 35.  If KG and Pierce going to get hit with the injury bug, guys who have kept themselves in far better shape than Shaq, and at least equally good shape as the others, it's about time Cleveland got their fair share of bad luck.

In a perfect world, both teams would fight it out at full speed.  I don't want to play Cleveland injured while we're at full health.  However, if we've got to be hit by the injury bug because we're "old," they should be made to sleep in the bed they made for themselves as well.

Are you psychic?...do you remember our posts about the possibilites of this very thing happening to the cavs.Have you any other predictions to happen to the cavs, lakers, and magic.Seriously though we had discussed the possibilities of the cavs having some injuries before the season is over due to age.Another thing,BBD finally did somethng right this season, erased Shaq from the team for awhile.

this may be the biggest contribution Glen Davis has made to the Celtics' season so far

The ONLY problem I have with this---is that it will probably give the Lakers their 16th Title....If the C's don't win it--"ANYONE BUT The Lakers" is my motto.

Big Baby Derailed our own season with his thumb injury--Causing Doc to play KG way more minutes than he should have to start the season---NOW, Davis might have also helped L.A.

Did you watch the Cavs without Shaq play against Boston?  I am pretty sue this injury hurts Boston's chances, it doesn't help them.

The Cavs need Shaq to defend Howard and Bynum.  He is out 8 weeks.  He will still be doing conditioning during that time.  All he does is dunk so its not like he needs some time to get his jump shot back when comes back.  I think the time of will keep him fresh.

Maybe they should sign Mark Blount.  And I am only halfway kidding.

I'm worried about chemistry. Not matchups.

I don't think the Cavs have enough time to get Shaq + Jamison & Co. to operate at their best levels.

I think the Cavs will look more like the team we've seen over the past couple of games since the trade. A side that is still trying to find it's way.

Remember two years ago after the Wally + Big Ben trades and how much better the Cavs were by playoff time versus right after the deadline? How they became a cohesive team? A team that understood how to play alongside one another?

I expected the Cavs to improve considerably over the remaining few weeks of the season as they learned how to best use their new found offensive weapon and how he fitted into the team + everyone else fitted alongside him. And how to minimize Jamison's defensive flaws.

However, now, I don't think the Cavs have the time in terms of games and practices to max out their roster. I think they'll still be learning how to play as a unit when Shaq comes back at the start of the playoffs.

As it stands now if a team work at getting AV in  early foul trouble then you might be able to beat the cavs a lot easier.

What I think you will see is that the team will operate as if Shaq is not coming back at all and then use him more situationally when he returns.

Once Z comes back (which it seems like is pretty likely) the Cavs will have a very nice team even without Shaq.  Howard may still give them issues but the Cavs may just have to let him get his while neutralizing Carter (with Lebron, Moon) and Lewis (Lebron, Jamison).
