You would have to be dummy the dwarf to think Nate wasn't quick.

He was sooo quick. I've never seen anyone in the NBA stay in front of their man fullcourt shuffling in a defensive stance . His lateral quickness was better than Sergio Rodriguez's vertical speed. It was amazing.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

I think LarBrd33 was just being a contrarian.  It's silly to argue that Nate isn't quick.

Nate looked like this:

An insanely hyperactive little Jack Russel (Nate Dog, harharhar!)

He was harassing the ball-handler and put great pressure on the ball. I sincerely liked that. On the offensive end, yes, lost is the correct word. Not entirely coincidental, for our champs have been playing together for years already, and he's the brand spankin' new dog in town.

He'll be alright. Hope Doc unleashes him often enough for him to get acclimated.

Actually I hadn't seen LarBrd's post at all -- I just saw your's and agreed with you. Sorry. LOL.

For the record, just in case it came off that way, I wasn't intending my 'contrarian' comment as an insult -- I knew it was in fun.

  • Doc could learn a thing or two from Norman Dale
you know how when KG got hurt, Obese Davis ended up getting most of his minutes?  You know how Obese was able to hit a few jumpers and people started saying he was "playing great" and "filling in admirably"?  ... you know how in reality, Obese was a poor rebounder and his stubby fat little arms were incapable of mimicking the length, speed and savvy of KG on the defensive end... and a lot of Boston fans were ignorant to the fact that replacing KG with a fat 2nd round draft pick destroyed the team despite his "big numbers"?

Well when I watched Nate yesterday and saw him buzzing around... trying to use his short stubby arms to be effective on defense and ultimately getting burned... I started thinking he'll be the point guard version of Obese Davis.  Someone who might put up some numbers, but will kill us if he ends up getting important minutes.

THat's just me, though.

He'll be a fun sideshow... kinda like watching some short fat guy play power forward.  But I'll never take a player serious who is 5'7 and my 5'4 asian friend was able to post up in a pickup game.
I see what you are saying but in one instance, you an undersized PF taking over for a seven foot future HOF (not to mention the defensive captain).  On the other hand, you have an undersized guard who can shoot and drive taking over for a one dimensional shooter.  Robinson isn't a savior but of course, knowledgeable fans knew that already.  But what he is, is an upgrade over House; at least in terms of talent.  Whether he will fit is yet to be seen.  But at the least, I think the team got better.

... don't get me wrong.  Now we have a short fat guy (Obese), a midget (Nate), a guy who I've been convinced for years should be playing in the special olympics (tony allen... no offense... im just sayin... watch the guy shoot free throws), an albino ginger (Scal) and a certifiable headcase (Sheed) making up our bench... we're a Gheorghe Muresan away from completing our circus act of freakish nba reserves.   It'll be a fun stretch.

What's really missing from the Celtics bench is Marvin Barnes.

Yep either him, Raja Bell, Julian Wright, Hakim Warrick, or Anthony Randolf.

I think Brick was referring to Marvin "Bad News" Barnes, rather than Matt Barnes (who you may be referring to).  Two totally different players.

How I know I haven't been geting enough sleep: I had a witty rejoinder for that, but then a commercial came on TV with ellen degeneres and I decided I hated her smile.

He looked nervous thats how he looked. Kind of like he was timid and afraid to put his energy into it based on how the other guys might react to him...He'll shake that soon enough. There wasn't anything that really stood out, but at the same time he wasnt horrible either.

I loved Eddie for his shooting but Nate looked like a better ball handler--took a couple of mid range shots off the dribble and went to the hoop and found Scal in the corner--things Eddie doesn't really do--Nate also worked hard on defense and hawks the ball better than Eddie--Kenny Smith concerning the trade said Nate is Eddie times two--and some of that showed --what didn't show was how he fits in with the other players because the play when he was on the floor was too random.
