honestly think hudson can and will contribute more than jr giddens and walker will

I agree.

I think his jumpshot will be the reason. Spreading the floor and having guys who can hit the open shot is huge with Doc. I feel like I know what Doc likes from his players, but then I see how much he seems to like tony and I get confused.
Because defense is more important.
Also, Tony can score easily enough without taking a jump shot.

If Hudson plays, it probably won't be because of his jump shot.  It'll be because he is productive at the point, and can play NBA-defense.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

I agree wholeheartedly with the first statement, but i hope someone lets tony allen know he can score easily.

His out of control drives and horrible decisions give me the exact opposite impression of a competent scorer.

Hopefully hudson will be a defensive stopper who can score as well, but im not holding my breath. I'd be pleasantly shocked if he makes a meaningful contribution this year.

Well, he averages 7.4 ppg in about 19 mpg.  That's not good, but it's not bad, especially considering his injuries.

I said he can score easily ENOUGH, which is more than guys like Walker and Giddens can say.  That, along with his defense is the reason why Doc plays/likes him.

I saw the headlines, and the first thing I thought was "Does he train him?"

Now, I have learned that he does.

not to pile on or anything, but Thorpe still says nice things about Orien Greene

that said, it is better than Thorpedo saying he's trash

Tommy Heinsohn, Mike Gorman and many posters here also had nice things to say about Orien Greene as well, especially watching him during pre-season, when he made some pretty spectacular plays.

here we go again with Tony Allen's overrated defensive skills. Mr. pump fake has the physical gifts to play great D, but will never have the mental ability to make it materialize.

Tommy and Mike have good things to say about EVERY Celtic player - that's their job!

People here also pretty quickly figured out that he's not an NBA talent.  People, that is, other than David Thorpe.

True, but it's useful to identify what aspects they're complimenting and what is left unsaid.

You could do a lot worse with the 53'rd pick in a weak draft. He played 80 games as a rookie and made two other teams in the following two years.

Well, let's not forget who the other PGs were on that team that he was "competing" with.  Banks played 18 games (did he get hurt?).  Dan Dickau (DAN DICKAU!) I believe was ahead of him in the rotation before HE got hurt.  Delonte was second-year and was starting.

Then, he barely got on the court for either Indiana or Sacramento.  Orien was NOT an NBA talent, which I think we all knew, oh...  about twenty or thirty games into his career.

EDIT: Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline., my 1,000th post was about ORIEN FREAKIN' GREENE?  [dang it].....

I really like Thorpe, though i wouldn't weigh it too high. He admits that he won't say any negative things about his students, and he has been overly high on guys like Tyrus Thomas for a long time now.

I really do hope Lester pans out though.
