I have to agree with those who say sell high. I would love to keep Perk around, but if we can get something special for him, I'm game. His shoulder is scary, and there is no reason to expect it to get separated less often.

There are some fans who get so caught up in the hometown players that they think Rondo and Perk would go in the top 3 in this draft with Griffin. So we have 3 HOF players and 2 top-3 talents starting with them? Kool-aid anyone?

I have tried so hard, but I just can't see Thabeet being a franchise big. He is clearly a gifted defensive player, but the guy doesn't have touch on offense. He will never be as strong as Shaq or Howard, so I just don't see him ever being a FRANCHISE PLAYER, which is the only purpose of drafting in the 1-3 slot.

I highly doubt this is Ainge's guy.

If we must make a deal, here's what I would do: First, I would package Ray and Rondo for Amare and Barbosa plus their 14th pick. I would then use the 14th pick plus Perkins to trade to Memphis for their 2nd pick. With that 2nd pick, I'd draft Harden.

This means we could throw out this lineup: FA signing PG, Harden, Pierce, Garnett, Stoudemire. Who's the point guard you ask? Well, Danny has said they will use the MLE on the right player. So how about Kidd? What about Miller? There are a few other solid options out there.

Would a lineup of Kidd, Harden, Pierce, Garnett, and Stoudemire be a better team than the current Celtics? I think they would have a very good chance to be. Amare, though big, would still be playing out of position at center. We don't know if he would buy into the defense. Would Harden deliver big numbers during his rookie season? Don't forget Barbosa as your 6th man.

So why would Ainge do something like this? Well, he gets a young superstar in Stoudemire. He also gets another potential superstar in Harden. These guys would be a much, much better combination of youth than Perk and Rondo. Perk and Rondo, from what we've seen thus far, are limited players. Stoudemire and Harden, on the other hand, are players that could perhaps carry your team to a championship and certainly extend the careers of PP and Garnett.

We trade a promising point guard for a promising shooting guard. We trade a limited defensive center for one of the best big men in the league. We are, however, left without a point guard. But we all know teams win without a great point guard all the time (just look at the Lakers this year). If we could sign a solid, reliable point guard, I would go ahead and make these deals.

It's an interesting idea though it'd be a miracle if that team were ever assembled, and an even bigger miracle if we went through the season without a major injury in the starting 5 and Harden also made large contributions in his rookie year.

Also, we'd kinda be screwed in 2-3 years since 4 of the starting 5 would likely either have retired or signed elsewhere in free agency.  Your trade scenario takes "WIN NOW" to a whole new level.  The future of our team would basically be Harden and whoever we had the chance to sign in free agency after the other starters retired.
Never forget the Champs of '08, or the gutsy warriors of '10.

It's not that I think they would go high, I think they are better for the Celtics winning next season then a rookie that would replace them.

Special is fine if it is special this upcoming season.

Special is not fine if it is potential special replacing a key peace.

Amare basically has one eye. For an NBA player, that's not a good thing. We have Barbosa for half the money this year and no long term commitment in Eddie House -- all shooting, no passing, no d.

lol what? He basically has one eye? It was a detatched retena, he didn't have the thing poked out. Allan Ray had that happen and he was fine. It's easily correctable by surgery, my moms retena detatched twice and she's fine. It is a big deal when it happens, but after surgery it isn't anything to worry about. Perk's shoulder is more of a problem.

Plus, I believe he said he plans on wearing goggles the rest of his career.

Oh, and Eddie House is probably leaving the team, and he'll never be as good as Barbosa. He completely relies on shooting, and Barbosa can get it in other ways. Plus, I'm stick of Eddie missing shots with 21 seconds left on the clock.
