Van Gundy and so many other coaches have played the "Make Rondo shoot" card  and guess what, it works almost 90% of the time. I'm not saying trade him, or get rid of him, but I am advocating that he needs to erase A LOT of flaws from his game.....and I wouldn't put him as the poster board Celtics franchise player anytime soon..or ever...

"works almost 90% of the time"?

And this number is based on?

It's one thing to think about what Rondo can get you...

But when you come up with Marbury as the best replacement, all trades suddenly look bad.

The only stat I give Marbury over Rondo is that he'd cost a lot less money as he should. He's still overpaid given that he should have been paying us

Watching it happen all the time in the Orlando series, the Lakers series last year, the Bulls series to a degree, the  Cleveland series last year, both Laker games this year...and the list goes on. I made up the stat 90%, I was just using it to mean "They use it alot" if that helps the confusion. If you are looking for some sort of *real* stat % from me that proves it, then sorry, but I am unable to give it to ya.

I never want to hear the words "Marbury" and "starting point guard" ever in the same sentence.

Why?

He doesn't play at all during many months, yet adapts to the team's philosophy and minutes despite his reputation as cancer, does all that he's asked to do and yet people just criticise him.

Fans always have to find a scapegoat: first it was Scal, then Tony, and finally Moore and Marbury. I don't get it

Marbury can consistently shoot jumpers. If he can get a full pre-season with the team he might be a better fit with Ray Allen or Pierce.

It has to be frustrating for Paul and Ray to see double teams during crunch time then pass out to a point guard who can't shoot.

Marbury's being trashed and underrated here for the most part (speaking only of on-court performance since I know nothing about off-court).  20 games isn't nearly enough.  I thought he did as good a job as could be expected given the short time and very short minutes (no choice).  He played hard on defense, too.

His only problem was shooting and hesitancy shooting, and I think those were do to rust and trying to fit the role of small-minute backup (everything magnified).  I think he'll do fine as a starter somewhere next season, but I don't think he fits well with the Celtics as a starter.  We need full-court speed, not just drive to the basket speed.

He's not washed up.  He's had too much rest for that.

Rondo hit a higher percentage of his jumpers than Marbury during the regular season, and they were about the same in the playoffs.

I bet that is frustrating, yet another reason not to keep steph since he shot an abysmally 27% on open jumpers.

by the way i still think pruitt played better last year than marbury
but at least that is a better argument than marbury as an nba starter (except in his mind)

Making up numbers is fun! It is an especially good way to convince people in a debate  ::).

I am Marbury's #1 fan, but I would prefer he either came off the bench with the Celtics, or start elsewhere.
